Remember back to the great champions league final night and as he heads that joyus goal to make it 3-1 the look on his face, the motivation, the belief

his arms raise "comon, we can do this, we can fukkking have this cuunttts"

when recently has he done anything near to that? not anymore cause we struggle to even trouble the wigan keeper (or many other examples) he doesnt believe we can do it anymore

Is this thread a joke?

He isn't as influential because everyone around him is in a rut as well. If the rest of the team was up for it then he could do what he does best, get forward and score/create. Look at fat Frank, he has hard working players like Essien behind him so he is always able to score...

There is no reason why Gerrard can't still get 20+ goals a season for the next few years. And dont give me that "he is the captiain so he can't man bullsh.ite", he is playing with many inferior players so what do you all expect.

But that wasnt the initial point of the thread.
Him not trying and being finished are totally different.

I think his attitude has been poor and i would expect better from our captain, but i can see how he could be disheartened and let things affect his game.
I have played in good sides and poor ones myself and it can be hard to remain positive and perform well in a struggling side.

Saying he is finished though - which you did to me is laughable, the lad was player of the year last season.

True Ben. The initial thrust of the thread was that Gerrard was "passed it" and that's nonsense.

Now, whether he's "up for it", giving the current state of the team/manager etc, is an entirely different proposition altogether.

Personally speaking, I don't believe for a second that Gerrard sees eye to eye with Benitez and there is a rift in place over how to carry on, on the pitch. I also think that this year is the culmination of some extreme frustration, built up over the last few seasons of "misfires" and "could have beens."

Gerrard hasn't been firing all season and his body language suggests there is something going on what we don't know about. Either with Rafa, back room, personal or team mates. Something ain't right with him. At 29 years old you can't say he is passed it but he might have had his time at Liverpool, as much as it pains me to say that :(

I'll create a thread now saying Torres is finished and bring it up in 10 years yeh?  :sleep
All round the fields of Anfield Road
Where once we watched the King Kenny play (and could he play!)
Stevie Heighway on the wing
We had dreams and songs to sing

So what you're saying is, 'Gerrard's getting old therefore he won't be as good as we was' as opposed to 'he's been a bit sh!t lately and won't find the form of yesteryear ever again due to factors other than age'?

Is this an age argument or other?

Put Gerrard behind Torres like last year and watch them two fly. You know it, I know, the feckin world knows it

I've read many posts on this thread and have come to the conclusion that people are just trying to find an excuse for this season so it's being lumped on our talisman and best player...... to say that Stevie is "past it" is ridiculous, he's carried injuries all season and if anything he has performed credibly well with them, it's our paper thin (in quality) squad that is to blame....... The doubters will eat their words when Stevie's performances improve. Remember, form is temporary, class is permanent.

World class players aged 30 in 2010

I'll group by nationality (i.e. whether they play for their country), restrict to FIFAs top 10 and whether they play Champions League.

Brazil
Júlio César
Lucio
Ronaldinho

Spain
Puyol
Xavi

Netherlands
Van Bommel

Italy
Buffon
Cannavaro
Gattuso
Pirlo
Zambrotta

Germany
Ballack
Klose

Portugal
Ferreira
Miguel
Simao

France
Abidal
Henry
Anelka
Vieira??

England
Terry
Ferdinand
Gerrard
Lampard
Beckham

Argentina
Heinze
Samuel
Milito
Zanetti

Greece
Kyriagos :D

Hardly any 30+ world class players ???

Agreed. Seriously, if i was Gerrard, playing in the current squad..i'll be mighty fecking :censored: off too. Like most of us said, he's human...it's fecking normal to be frustrated.
