another bid has been made for the reds, maybe good news

i may as well just paste the whole article
Liverpool are set to become the target of a fresh takeover bid, according to media reports.

A Los Angeles-based Liverpool-born Hollywood film executive has revealed he is ready to put together a new consortium to buy the club.

Mike Jefferies said he has been talking to the club for the last six weeks.

This year, Liverpool have been targeted by a Thai media mogul and the Thai Prime Minister, while tycoon Steve Morgan's £73m rival offer was rejected.

Thai bid for Reds may fail

Jefferies is in partnership with Stuart Ford, an entertainment lawyer also based in the USA.

"We would like to be able to contribute to helping Liverpool become the most successful club in the world again," Jefferies told The Financial Times, which reports the bid is worth £100m.

Jefferies told BBC Radio Five Live he has not put a time frame on any potential bid but says that if Liverpool want to capitalise on the transfer market in January then they have to act now.

The duo are said to be keen to buyout the Moores family, who own 51.6% of the club, but they are reported to be keen to retain the involvement of chairman David Moores.

Jefferies is chairman of Milkshake Films, the company making 'Goal!' - a movie about a South American footballer who comes to the English Premiership.

The film is being shot partly on location at Newcastle's St James' Park and is due to be released in August 2005.

Yup jus on my way home from work and heard the same.(BBC radio 5live).

Lets hope we have some good news this time around, something positive.

We all knew Morgan was serious but it seems as though the 'Thai Guys' were using us to raise their profile in their own country.

Sounds more encouraging though,as we have only jus got wind of talks that began six weeks ago-now thats the way it should be done

Well it sounds all well and good but then the last couple of bids to be thrown around have ended with nothing.  So I'm not going to hold my breath on this one, having said that and injection of £100million certainly wouldn't go amiss...

we could do with the money to buy some new players but i hope its serious this time and we dnt need to pinch valencia players

In an ideal world Steve Morgan would be the fans favourite to get in.

However the Hollywood executive strongly tipped to buy into the club is good news too.

personally I think letting the Americans in control of our club will be a disaster. They screw everything up. They don't understand the roots of football, we'll end up being Liverpool Soccer Club.

I'm not keen.

:D  :D I think this is just the bit of good news we needed after the s**t over Gerrard and Nunez's set backs - a deal worth around 100m for the club, what more could we want.
Now we know why the deal between LFc and Morgan went sour and the tailand priminister didnt get his 30% stake.
From what i have heard they dont want any real active part in the club, but just to put money into the club that they love, to make us great again (we already are, but dont tell them that) - this would be perfect, if for example Morgan had a larger stake in the club i feel that he would want a major say in how the club is run, who we should buy and would be down at the training ground saying who to play and basically interfering rather then letting RB run the show, and i am positive if was a fiver behind Morgan and i had a large stake in the club i love that i would want a say, and have preferences on certain players. So i say take the Americans bid and go buy some kick ****** players

just think who we could get for 100 MILLION POUNDS. Sh*t it was 100m pounds rather than 100m Dollars wasnt it?

Anyway time to start dreaming - now who shall i have...Henry... Aimar...............maybe Zidane................................

Lee, I agree with you to a point.

However one thing the Yanks know about more than anyone is global marketing of a brand name.

So what if we end up as Liverpool soccer club?? If 'Liverpool Soccer Club' are European and premier league champions in the very near future, I am sure we will not be complaining.

What does azriahmad think?

He usually posts really good points about all the financial aspects of the club.  He must work in finance, he knows what he's talking about.

I'd be interested to hear what he thinks.

It is doubtful, if the Americans would put money in without wanting an equal measure of control.
Morgan, definitely wan'ts control. He sees himself running the club, which might be no bad thing, could be prefrential to control from California.

From what I have read and heard the guy who wants to do it is not a Yank, but a scouser, so I dont see the problem there.

Also, what is the bets that this is yet another WHITE ELEPHANT takeover bid story ?

I tend to agree Leon.

Personally I'm kindda sick of these take over stories as they get fans' hopes up and then turn out to be nothing.

The first Thai bid was an absolute farce, and to any Thai members out there, I'm not being rascist here, but I'd rather any takeover of our club comes from closer to home than from the Far East.
