Millwall - Carling cup

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Postby the great one » Thu Sep 23, 2004 12:54 am

Liverpool have been drawn to play away to Dennis Wise's Millwall in the third round of the Carling Cup.
Last season's FA Cup Finalists Millwall, like Liverpool had a bye to the third round of the Carling Cup as they are involved in the UEFA Cup this season.

The tie at the New Den will either be played on Tuesday or Wednesday, 26th/27th October.

Liverpool have never played at the New Den but last played Milwall in the FA Cup during the 1988/89 season when goals from John Aldridge and Ian Rush gave the Reds a 2-0 win.

Last season Liverpool beat Blackburn Rovers 4-3 in the third round at Ewood Park in a thrilling game that saw the Reds also miss a penalty, but they crashed out to Bolton Wanderers 3-2 at Anfield in the fourth round.
got a tricky away tie at millwall hopefully we can have a good run in the cup

Millwall away is always a tricky tie as they are an extremely determined and gritty team.  I think we should be able to break them down and they're without Tim Cahill who lead them to the FA Cup final and spearheaded their promotion hopes.

Everton.  He's the one who got a Red Card for pulling his shirt off after celebrating his goal against ... can't remember who... last week.  He got 17 last year for Millwall though and only 11 of them were in the league.  So thats 6 in cup competitions
