Time to take a much needed inventory of all our assets that currently adorn our Living space ,albeit from the obvious heirlooms which came with the house , although our living area is sparse it is now completely free of clutter save for the odd table lamp we purchased on the off chance it would add to the decor ,and even though our living room needs more illumination, at this moment in time we cannot envisage the classy candelabra we bought solely for its Italian style having any place in our home without a completely new design ,but we do see it eventually see it setting the tone for the style we have in mind, that said lets get back to the quality furniture we do have there is nothing from Ikea albeit with the exception of the table lamp I mentioned ,we have Spanish flooring dependable and solid and never in question of the space it affords in our home the Rug was bought in Denmark but its origins are mixed in fact this classy rug could have ended up in a home in Barcelona, the coffee table is solid has a South American feel to it ,even though we know it was put together in a little carpenters in Huyton ,but we know for sure the overall sense of power in the room does indeed come from the fabulously ornate figure which we know is from Argentina even though we bought it from a reputable dealer in a little shop in West Ham ,very expensive but worth every penny ..
We have recently had a clear out and that resulted in some furniture we bought when on holiday in Italy, being jettisoned ,plus some Russian Vase which promised to embellish our superb Fireplace ,now lets talk about the undoubted focal point of the room the Fireplace bought in Spain and without doubt a true original no danger of this being a reproduction this is special and the source of much interest ,in point of fact there is much speculation amongst those who underestimate your determination to keep at all costs ,that this piece of obvious quality would be enough to subsidize an entire overhaul of the whole house ,as would the Coffee table which you consider priceless in today's market .....
In fact when you sit back and admire the much coveted pieces of furniture ,you begin to wonder how you have acquired such quality given the Landlords you lease the building from ,the tenants agreement looked so water tight when you signed it but that was before the roof started to leak through lack of maintenance and the windows became the source of such ubiquitous stone throwing from neighbours you once heralded as friends ,in fact you often begin to wonder what's keeping you in this house given the derision that is slowly seeping through the walls you once believed to be impervious ,especially as a much more comfortable way of life exists in Spain or Italy ,your one source of comfort outside these walls is your garden a beautiful place steeped in history ,but planning permission has been denied for you to extend this utopia and no-one wants to climb in the proverbial bed while its occupied by your foul smelling Landlords .....
