BBC One's Only Fools and Horses prequel will air Sunday, January 24, it has been announced.

Rock & Chips, which is set in 1960, stars Inbetweeners actor James Buckley as a young Del Boy.

Additionally, Kellie Bright and Shaun Dingwall have been confirmed in their roles as Joan and Reg Trotter respectively. Roberts Daws, Nicholas Lyndhurst and Phil Daniels also star.

The 90-minute special will feature a "bittersweet love story" and aims to shed new light on the lives of the Trotter family

I didn't bother watching it, daft feckers on BBC showed two episodes of OFAH Sunday afternoon but not "the legacy of the frog" (the one in which Freddie the Frog is referred to as Del goes on a treasure hunt) I expected it to be a bit of a let down, the last few OFAH were a few too many and for me tainted what was generally an excellent comedy and arguably the best ever. Would my life be incomplete without having watched it? I seriously doubt it. Obviously every comedy has its weaker episodes, OFAH was no exception as some of the early ones were a struggle, but most people distrust prequels and spin-offs. Green Green Grass was ok, but OFAH had Del and Rodney with a great supporting cast, the BBC would never have a raging success with only two of that supporting cast. I mean a few of Trigger, Boycie, Marlene, Uncle Albert, Mike, Denzil etc might have worked, but since some of them is dead they couldn't even do that.

And what is it with casting old cast in prequels/sequels?!?! Leonard Nimoy guesting in the latest Star Trek for example. And "Rock and Chips", who on earth came up with that?!?!? Something along the lines of the Peckham five (or however many there were) might have gone down better, Peckham or bust.

Of course BBC are reshowing it after midnight on Friday, can't be much of a flag flier for the BBC that they can't shove half the cr ap they show out the way. If that were an episode of doctor who or eastenders it would be on at least three times in much better timeslots during the week.

Never buy from PC World, product quality is poor and their 'customer service' is even poorer

I watched it and it was quite funny in places but it concentrated too much on freddie the frog and Delboys mum, I would have preffered it to be more on Delboy and his mates.

OFAH was funny but went krap for several years - after the boys settled down it just got boring with the same jokes - Delboy's silly drink (yawn) and Oman music for the kid (just lazy).

Didn't they already do some krap spin off?

Only fools and horses is my favourite but they milked it after they got there fortune on that watch piece they had (sorry egg timer:D ) and should of ended it there.

As for the prequel,  well it was always worth a watch to see how their mum was portrayed and for me it was a let down as seeing Nicholas Lyndhurst was playing the role as his Father Freddie the Frog and I couldn't get it out of my head that he was still Rodney and the fact that Dels Mother looked about 5 years older than Del.
