In all seriousness though the rate at which their products are replaces is silly. I remember when the ipods first came out there would be a new one every 6 months. And when I got my imac last year a few months later they refreshed the range, the machine was the same but the mouse changed to a new touch style one.

Ha ha I knew someone would crack that at some point. I must admit though it's my best recent purchase. Just don't feel right if I don't use my imac at least once a day.

Go on have a good laugh at that.  :D

Oh dear, how did I know all the responses would be the same sad hating replies. :(

I've got a Macbook Pro, iPhone and been a mac user for 10 years (had about 10 macs, I'm an addict)but I won't be buying the iPad, massive let down in my opinion, it's just a big iPhone, no camera and no USB ports

The big sticking point for me is the lack of a pressure sensitive pen stylus. If that thing could be used as a graphics tablet as well as a mobile computer, then it would be a huge success. To not inlcude a feature like that would be a massive mistake and missed oportunity for what otherwise would be a decent product.

(not my work)

8 Things That Suck About the iPad

Big, Ugly Bezel
Have you seen the bezel on this thing?! It's huge! I know you don't want to accidentally input a command when your thumb is holding it, but come on.

No Multitasking
This is a backbreaker. If this is supposed to be a replacement for netbooks, how can it possibly not have multitasking? Are you saying I can't listen to Pandora while writing a document? I can't have my Twitter app open at the same time as my browser? I can't have AIM open at the same time as my email? Are you kidding me? This alone guarantees that I will not buy this product.

No Cameras
No front facing camera is one thing. But no back facing camera either? Why the hell not? I can't imagine what the downside was for including at least one camera. Could this thing not handle video iChat?

Touch Keyboard
So much for Apple revolutionizing tablet inputs; this is the same big, ugly touchscreen keyboard we've seen on other tablets, and unless you're lying on the couch with your knees propping it up, it'll be awkward to use.

No HDMI Out
Want to watch those nice HD videos you downloaded from iTunes on your TV? Too damned bad! If you were truly loyal, you'd just buy an AppleTV already.

The Name iPad
Get ready for Maxi pad jokes, and lots of 'em!

No Flash
No Flash is annoying but not a dealbreaker on the iPhone and iPod Touch. On something that's supposed to be closer to a netbook or laptop? It will leave huge, gaping holes in websites. I hope you don't care about streaming video! God knows not many casual internet users do. Oh wait, nevermind, they all do.

Adapters, Adapters, Adapters
So much for those smooth lines. If you want to plug anything into this, such as a digital camera, you need all sorts of ugly adapters. You need an adapter for USB for god's sake.

Update: Why stop at 8? Here are more things we are discovering that suck about the iPad.

It's Not Widescreen
Widescreen movies look lousy on this thing thanks to its 4:3 screen, according to Blam, who checked out some of Star Trek on one. It's like owning a 4:3 TV all over again!

Doesn't Support T-Mobile 3G
Sure, it's "unlocked." But it won't work on T-Mobile, and it uses microSIMs that literally no one else uses.

A Closed App Ecosystem
The iPad only runs apps from the App Store. The same App Store that is notorious for banning apps for no real reason, such as Google Voice. Sure, netbooks might not have touchscreens, but you can install whatever software you'd like on them. Want to run a different browser on your iPad? Too bad!

I'm sure if they worked with wacom they could come up with something like that but I don't think the capacative screens they use would be able to work with a pen. Fingers only mate....

Nice idea though in theory and im sure we are headed there at some point.

Anyway onto that 8 point hater post.

The lack of multitasking is :censored: I admit especially for a device that is meant to replace your notebook. What we all need to remember is it is running OS 3.2. OS 4.0 is the one with the rumored multitasking of sorts which if it comes in the summer for the next iPhone. Im sure it will be for the ipad as well.

As for Flash well to be honest I couldn't care less. Also it's probably still not quite powerful enough to run it properly. A mates Atom powered netbook cannot run at a level that I find acceptable either. Still Flash 10.1 isn't even finished yet and Apple wouldn't ship it with a beta plugin. If this is to come I expect it'll be a 4.0 feature in the summer.

On the plus though the price is way lower than many expected. $499 is a steal considering this is Apple.

For those geeks out there who have iphones and are wondering what CPU the next one will use well it looks like Apple are finally  using their own CPU and from what I've read it is extremely fast. So I expect the next iPhone will also have an Apple developed chip. Probably a underclocked A4. In any case it's extremely fast and low powered and Apple will be able to get battery life figures others won't be able to match along with some seriously nice speed. 10 hours on the iPad is a long time.

Oh yeah and people need to stop moaning about closed app development ect... At the end of the day Apple want to ensure any app that makes it into the app store is of a certain quality level so if it's good enough then it will be submitted. You only have to look at the hordes of :censored: s60 and wM apps that just look ugly. That's the difference between Apple and other products. Whenever you use something apple it's always a pleasant experience.

need a translation for half that post, bav...

i'm a diehard apple user myself, since about 11 years ago, but i find myself bit by bit falling out of love with them. my current powerbook is the 15" macbook pro and i think its the worst i've ever had. i've never had to send it back (as far too many apple users have to do at some point) but it it often runs like sh!t even with 4 gig of ram in it. i also quite often have to install set ups with new macs and i'm getting increasingly vexed about them changing the connector shape with every new model. costs me a fecking fortune in adaptors and cables - 80 euros for an adaptor and a firewire cable the other day.

and as for this ipad thing, i just don't really get it. it seems to fall between too many stools and i don't think its anywhere near revolutionary enough to begin to shift peoples computer using, media consuming habits in the way that apple want to. i'm hoping i'll get the chance to have a play with one of them soon, for entertainment's sake but i can't think of why i'd want one.

:D

Sorry mate.

The imac I got last year was actually my first Apple desktop I have ever owned and touchwood it has not given me any problems so far.

I don't really have a need for the ipad as I already surf on my iphone when im not at home (on my imac). But the next iphone is going to be great. There will be a massive OS overhaul with new functionality and I hear Apple have 1 team working on google maps alone so there must be something special coming for maps too.

5MPcamera and should be atleast 720p video too.

I am a huge apple fan..... but this ipad is bloody pointless.
It's the 1st time, in a LONG time, that I can say that I'm truly dissapointed with any of their products.

It's a huge iphone which cannot make phone calls..... cannot multi-task etc etc etc.... see Dinger's post above.

You'd be better off with a MacBook Air and an Iphone if portability is truly what you desire.

To top it off..... why on earth would you name a product, that you hope to be an object of desire, ipad??
Sounds like a digital sanitary napkin FFS!  :D
