I guess people are hoping he will prove to be a bargain and that he will be a top performer in England. We should re visit this in 6 months and see if he is still in peoples best 11.  :D

as well as lucas has played this season i think nearly everyone would have reina, johnson, carra, agger, aurelio, masch, aquilani, gerrard and torres if fit. the only major debating points are the wide areas as they all have their pros and cons. basically you're looking at two from kuyt, benayoun, maxi and riera.

He's been sh*te for two seasons in La Liga. I know. I watch it all the time. Could be down to wanting out or falling out with his manager, though.

It just goes to show that people are picking an unknown player (in a Liverpool shirt) ahead of one of our regulars.

Doesn't say much does it really?

And people got dogs abuse on here because they thought Kuyt was inadequate.

Sounds about right. I'd have Riera on the left and Babel on the right (but that isn't going to happen now he's leaving).   

Kuyt is our current best option on the right but Maxi might prove to be a better one. 

I think that our wide players are ok but not great, we need some genuine quality on the right in particular.

The best player in the world can be a big failing in Atletico de Madrid, it's like putting all together in a club the deluded expectations of Tottenham, and the bad luck of Newcastle, with the bitterness of Everton.

Failing in Atletico de Madrid, literally means nothing!  :D

:D  so true, the amount of talent they have had over the years that have acheived nothing is very strange. Very much like a spanish Tottenham or Villa
