Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Wow, Maxi is worth 23 mil on Football Manager!

Guess we got quite a bargain, especially when Viera is worth 100k/week.

Can you really see Rafa droppping Kuyt.  He'll probably decide to play Maxi out of position as he has done with Babel, Kuyt, Aurelio...

Should be interesting.  I hope he does play him on the right otherwise I think he will be an inexpensive dud..  here's hoping!
Our job is simple, to support the club, not just parts of the club that are easy to support, but every one who plays a part, that includes ALL players.  We are stronger when we are all walking in the same direction. Walk On

Yes - I see Rafa dropping/resting Kuyt and using him in his favoured position (up front) as a foil for Torres.

Giullem Ballague wrote a bit in the Mirror today on Maxi saying he would be a very useful acquisition to the LFC squad but more importantly talked about the role that Masherano and Torres have played in getting Maxi to LFC. Apparently both phoned him to encourage him to come to Anfield. He went on to say that this behaviour is not that of players who have given up on the club and the manager (as has been suggested in some papers) but players who believe in Liverpool and Rafa. A good read!!

The transfer of Maxi Rodriguez from Atletico Madrid to Liverpool is close to completion, but contrary to earlier reports of a 1.5 million deal, the Argentine midfielder could end up moving to Anfield for free...

As Tony Barrett reported in The Times earlier today, Rafa Benitez will receive no additional transfer funds from the sale of players.

However, Atletico Madrid have been early movers in the January transfer window and have already begun recruiting players, including a midfielder - and are looking to get Maxi Rodriguez - a high earner, surplus requirements and who could leave the club for free in the summer - off their books for six months.

A £1.5 million signing on fee is being discussed and payment would be spread, in the form of a salary, between now and the end of the season. All of which means that, unless there are any last minute changes of heart, the move represents an excellent deal for Benitez who will get his target, in essence, on a free transfer.

It shows the standard of our squad right now when we are chasing a player who could technically be called a reject!

Very relevant point that OMB.
