we're on sky here and thats ok, internets fine when someones playing games online. But I cant download while my bro plays xbox.

I'm on 02 at Uni and thats shocking tbh, weak connection, but that might have something to do with 5 people using it at the same time and the house we're in. I wouldn't recomment 02

There's a Sky offer on at the minute where you get free 20mb bb with unlimited d/l's for 6 months. Just upgraded from their base offering yesterday although haven't got the speed increase yet.

Some info for you:

UK ISP Market Share

http://www.kitz.co.uk/isp/ISP_marketshare.htm

Customer Satisfaction

ISPs by overall customer satisfaction

    * PlusNet 92 percent
    * Pipex 90 percent
    * Telewest 89 percent
    * Virgin.net 87 percent
    * AOL 83 percent
    * Tiscali 83 percent
    * Wanadoo 83 percent
    * BT 82 percent
    * NTL 81 percent

Before choosing make sure you look at all these factors and other things like which ISP's are the worst offenders for throttling ect...

I'm with talktalk btw. They could be faster but it's ok for my usage. Unfortunatley I can't get Virgin in my area otherwise id go for that.

So many people get bundle deals these days ie phone, broadband or even TV thrown in too so there is a lot to think about.

If you can get cable in your area I would get that mate. Like Red37 I am with Virgin(cable) and have few problems. My son plays X-box live and we have 4 computers going as well without any trouble.

Haven't Tiscali been merged/taken over by Talktalk? How does that impact? I gather it won't affect my package, but I'm sure there will be some changes inevitable

I got a letter from talktalk, you perhaps binned it thinking it was spam. There may well have been an e-mail as well, I should check to make sure they haven't sneakily upped the monthly rates etc.

Interesting to note that Tiscali was in that list and talktalk wasn't. Wouldn't touch BT with a bargepole, well might bash to death the count trying to sell it me on me doorstep. They got their poxy £8 or £9 out of me for calls I never made after fecknose how many months of carrying it forward, cost them hundreds of pounds a year in lost customer though!  :D Same as british s*i*e/gasbags, DOUBLED my monthly cover plan payments without notice and lost themselves near £100 a month for that and before/after my custom altogether

Well TalkTalk have upped the monthly rate by around £2.50 as of February, deciding to "upgrade" my package to 8mb. It was fairly inevitable they'd put in some kind of increase, so bye bye Tiscali and hello c r a p ISP
