I agree with Ronnie Whelan who said he should have been sacked long ago.

I'm not sure how long ago Ronnie meant though. Losing Alonso and buying an injury prone (check his record in Italy) crock was the final straw for me.

Babbel was a hot prospect and ruined by never getting a good run, Kuyt was a centre foward forced to play on the wing (why didn't just buy a winger?), He has a revolving door and spends a fortune on rubbish players.

I'd pay the 20m to get rid of him - he'd just waste the money anyway. The club can go nowhere with him.

If Rafa does not leave, he'll ask another 20M for new players....and based on his record signings, it won't do much good....and we risk the season as well...

bottom line is

WE'RE F*CKED!!!

True that   :glare:

If it's true majority of the fans in the stadium still singing for Rafa, I think it would be a convenient excuse for the Yanks not to sack Rafa.

Why hasn't he been sacked yet? We won't qualify for CL with him in charge, will lose a stack of money and become a second rate club.

He is a krap manager and has wasted a fortune, with Gerrard (who was already there) and Torres injured - we have very little quality to separate us from the likes of Spurs,Villa etc

I cannot understand people who always support a manager no matter how krap a job he is doing.

Also - why do such rich men always get paid a fortune when they fukk up (football managers and bankers etc). In most jobs he'd just be fired.

Liverpool's shock FA Cup exit at the hands of Championship strugglers Reading has heaped the pressure on Rafa Benitez.

The Spaniard's long-term future has been questioned in the wake of Liverpool's poor form, but Benitez is refusing to consider his own position and is focused on this weekend's trip to Stoke.

Benitez started his news conference on Friday by reading from a statement of 'facts', in what was a light-hearted reference to the famous tirade he launched almost exactly a year ago against Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson.

"Some facts - we are not playing well and we feel sorry for our fans," said Benitez as he read from a piece of paper.

"We know every week things can change in football and we have confidence we can improve.

"Stoke is the first opportunity to improve and we will try to do it."
Coy
Benitez refused to answer any questions on his own future, preferring to concentrate on this Saturday's game at the Britannia Stadium

"We want to concentrate and it's better we talk about football," added Benitez. "We must not talk too much about the other things."

Benitez admits everyone involved at the club must take responsibility for their faltering form.

"Everyone has to take responsibility starting with us," noted Benitez. "The main thing we can do now is prepare properly for the game and we will try to do this.

"We will see against Stoke if we can improve and the best thing for me and the team is to prepare for the game properly and try to start winning games.

"We have a lot of things that we know went wrong, now we have to improve our game and the players know that too.

"We are professional and we have experience so it is a question to change things on the pitch."

Probably better to lose to Stoke and get him fired - like pulling a band aid off quickly.

Quite embarrassing. He looks and sounds like a man who knows his time is up. There was very little tension in his voice and body language which is unusual. I wouldn’t be surprised if he has been told that the club is looking for a replacement and he can leave once a new manager is confirmed.

Its far from true that the majority in the ground are still singing for Rafa
In reality there is a lot of discontent with him, the frustration of watching us struggle against so called lesser teams from the off, knowing full well that no changes other than enforced ones will be made until at least 65mins, then it will be a head scratcher
Another month of this garbage and 4th place could be well and truly out or reach.
And lets be honest; would anyone put the mortgage on him turning it around?
Whether you like it or not, times up and new blood is needed.

Its just time for Liverpool and Rafa to move on and try new things. For the most part its been ok but last year or two have been very difficult for everyone involved at the club and the cracks are now really showing. You just get battle worn trying to make it better and a clear out and new faces coming in will freshen it up for everyone.People can speculate on what Rafas departure may mean for certain players but at the end of the day we have to move on and if some lads dont like it Liverpool will survive and find new stars Ive no doubt about it.Time for change and you can sense it now.
