Just a quick one.I know we have had a poor first half of a season and maybe that doesn't reflect the player Glen Johnson could go on to become for us, he is really good at going at the opposition and taking there defenders on but on the downside the oppositions wingers seem to beat Johnson with almost ease at times.

So compare that with Arbeloa who didn't have it as much in his locker to get forward and create goals but was disciplined and was one of our most consistent performers over the past 2 seasons and for what we bought him for was an excellent piece of business.

I do believe if we had Arbeloa this season we would of conceded less goals, even though Johnson is really good going forward I feel it is always more important for a full back to defend and that's why my vote goes to Arbeloa.

Who would you rather have in the team now?

well Jonno's injured now so Arbeloa :D

Jonno really, he has more to give IMO
All round the fields of Anfield Road
Where once we watched the King Kenny play (and could he play!)
Stevie Heighway on the wing
We had dreams and songs to sing
'Bout the glory, round the Fields of Anfield Road

Absolute no contest, not in the same stratosphere and I really liked Arbie as a player and a good pro.

Easily Johnson... Anyone that says Arbeloa are probably the ones that blame Johnson for us conceding so many goals this season  :D

Johnson.  If Arbeloa was still here, Carra would have likely killed him by now.

I won't celebrate Rafa going........ but I will be over the moon if Dalglish comes in. League within 2 years if he gets the job, AND YOU CAN QUOTE ME ON THAT.

Thats what i thought  :D

We have one of the most positive posters on the boards usually but he is critical of one of our best players in the first part of the season.
His form has dipped but he is far better than Arbeloa.

Sounds mad but it was a bit close for me . Arbeloa sh!ts all over Johnson defensivly ,but Johnsons light years ahead in the attacking department. So i''ve gone with the attacking option as we need lots of goals and to win win win .

You see, mate, I'm not so sure of this one.  I think it's the case of two things:

1) Johnson's reputation for defensive frailty preceding him to the extent that many take it as given he's weak at the back

2) A player (Arbeloa in this case) growing in stature because we've been poor in his absence

But, from what I've seen, Johnson has been quite good at the back--much better than I expected given his reputation anyway.  And, from what I distinctly remember, Arbeloa was prone to occasional bouts of ball-watching, flatfootedness and poor positioning that made him no more than a solid defender rather than a completely, 100% reliable one.  I dare say it's a bit of a myth that Arbeloa was a much better defensive fullback than Johnson.

Absolutely spot on.
