Who do you want to see in january? - Realistic suggestions

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

I back him on the Maxi transfer. I don't recall seeing Chamakh but he seems to have a bit of pedigree seeing as Bordeaux are 9 pts clear at the top of the le championnat, and qualified for the UCL. Having previously been coveted by Wenger tends to suggest he's decent too.

If those are the types of 'gambles' Rafa is going to take then I back him fully.

Hell, I bet you weren't expecting anything from Santa on Christmas morning either, eh ? Are you always this much of a pessimist ?  :D

A realist!......the realisation that we are being led by a manager who will never win the prem with us.......a guy who makes more excuses than he is honest......and a guy who fools some of the fans all of the time but not me :no

Do you ever post in any other threads ? Or do you just use your obviously unheralded  intellect in a concerted effort to cry and whine ,with unrivalled constitution about the manager  ?

Seriously I am glad he doesn't fool you ,because without the constant dirge of posts decrying  the manager you would have no reason to be on the forum ,so I suppose that's beneficial to you ,otherwise what would you find to moan about     ???

I mean other posters air their views but they offer up slightly more relevant reasons as to why they have no faith in Rafa ,other than Sack him ,get rid ,or my particular favourite He's :censored:

Wenger also admitted at one point he was interested in Babel.  :D

I heard that, although given he lacks all the football intelligence Wenger signings typically possess, it didn't seem especially plausible. Still, Wenger does generally have a good eye for a player.

All round the fields of Anfield Road
Where once we watched the King Kenny play (and could he play!)
Stevie Heighway on the wing
We had dreams and songs to sing
'Bout the glory, round the Fields of Anfield Road

Talk about blind faith.....or in your case blind stupidity!...Rafa has had his day, he is living on the "Lucky 05 year" since then he has wasted vast amounts of money on overated, overpaid, under proforming players, (and dont give me the :censored: about the owners not giving him enough money) as much as i hate them two D1cks you cant blame everything on them. Rafa proved he aint got what it takes to spot class players apart from signing Torres (whom he should know about coz' after all he is spanish) some of his other buys have been woeful and the fiasco with Alonso led to him being driven into Real Madrid's hands because of Rafa's arrogant stubourness in pursuing another in Barry (who is not good enough to Lace Alonso's boots) to replace him. All this coupled with bizzare team selections, we have after 5 years ended up with a mediocre manager, with a mediocre team, playing boring football that no one wants to watch.......and that's progress is it?.........by may he will be gone and we will have to start over again with another manager...I wouldn't give Rafa 20p to spend never mind £20 mill. :no

chamakh's wages on par with gerrard and torres?

dont quite agree with you there. but if we're talking about a back up striker to torres, he plays a very similar game. he relies on his speed and ability to hold off defenders, but his finishing might be a little suspect at times, and if we're being honest, no offense to ligue 1 defenders but i dont think they're as 'nice' as premier league ones.

bordeaux seem to share a similarity with liverpool in the sense that their two best players share a weird telepathic understanding with one another. we have gerrard and torres and they have gourcuff and chamakh. not that much comparable really, we know who'd we rather have :p  but oooh. IF ONLY we were looking at gourcuff instead of chamakh, that would get me rubbing my hands with glee.

Perhaps the difference is that Wenger turns young players into good ones, Rafa's young players tend to end up little or no better than they were when he bought them. Babel is a fine example, N'Gog, Insua and Lucas haven't improved massively on when they were bought, some of the younger versions Wenger has have improved more.

I don't hold too high a hope with Rafa signings these days, most are over-priced if anything to get remotely excited about or too old, too naff etc. Last summer it was Keane, Dossena and Riera, this season it's Johnson and Aquilani - no feelings of great anticipated excitement before or after they were signed. Even the odd relative success hasn't been that great a revelation, nothing spectacular coming from anyone signed in the past two seasons.

And it's no surprise Wenger was interested, not because it was Babel but he has almost a pedo-style obsession with kids  ???

Never buy from PC World, product quality is poor and their 'customer service' is even poorer

i dont think rafa in his time at liverpool has had a 'cultivating' mindset towards youngsters. i mean, its there, but it's on the back burner. we've had loads of youngsters come to the academy in recent years, but we've hardly seen any that has broken into the first team. el zhar, paul anderson, plessis.

its funny i think that rafa has spent an odd 500,00 to a million on a dozen or so youngsters, fill the academy up with them, and then loan them away. we could've spent that instead on an established, quality player.
