liverpools squad is :censored: poor, and not only that players who you wish to pull us out the mire are not playing well either.

Someone said in another thread a while ago that our form is 'chickens coming home to roost'. I have to agree with that.

Yes, we've been fu.cked with injuries and bad luck BUT the style of football and attitude is down to Rafa.

Rafa reckons that football is a science, that a win can be figured out through numbers and stats. Stats are the reason why Dossena and not Benny started today. Rafa fed his numbers and stats into a computer and the results show that Doss would have better luck against their right back. This is why Kuyt, regardless of form, starts and finished every game. His stats would suggest that his tracking back, blocking, etc warrants a good game.

The problem is football is not an exact science. You have to be smart and calculating, yes, but not at the expense of heart and guts and passion. A footballer's instinct is to get forward, help the team score a goal. Rafa is so meticulous, so robotic in his approach to football that players are told - to the letter - what they have to do in every area of the pitch. A case in point would be Kuyt. Kuyt is our winger but is in the team to stop their left back getting forward.

What this does is blunt a footballer's instinct and when you do that, the player will second-guess himself. It might take a split second but it's enough in the Prem.

This is why I think Rafa is not only bad for Liverpool but bad for football. If he does manage to turn things around and becomes successful (great for us yes, but not the sport in the long run). His style will be copied and soon we will be inundated with negative, cautious football. 4-5-1 nonsense. Defensive midfielders? I don't buy it. Okay, having someone who can sit and break up attacks is essential to a team but, and this is thinking outside the box, how about a player who can do that AND pass the ball? Why are positions these days so rigid? Masch is defensive, Aqua is offensive, etc. Why can't a player be both?
AND HERE COMES AVI COHEN!! OH I SAY - AT THE SAME END HE'S GOT ONE BACK!!!!!!!!!!

Very scrappy football. I know the pitch is bad but we should be passing the ball much better.
