I think maybe it's because the two of you are arguing from different positions, as Benny is probably thinking about us playing a 4-4-2 today, in which case you would need Masch besides Gerrard? If not I must admit I can't agree either, as surely you wouldn't buy a 20 million pound man to be on the bench.

Oh, sorry for not minding my own business by the way :D

Edit: I see you have already "solved" the misunderstanding yourselves :;):

I expect that now we've broken up the Lucas/Masherano axis we'll see the difference within about 10 minutes of the match starting. Gerrard will get forward, the team will have balance, Mash will sit in and do what he does and we'll hammer wigan out of sight. We hammered everyone out of sight when we previously dropped Gerrard into central midfield.

Next game though we'll probably give the axis one more try just to see if it really will work.

Yes I must confess I think it's fair enough as well. There's every chance Torres isn't capable of playing two games in a week at the moment, playing him and injuring him would be daft.

Aquilani is a stranger one for me though. His transfer is begining to have a whiff of Keanegate about it to me. Either he is taking a ridiculously long time to get fit, or the manager has taken a look at him in training and thought "oops!" (I agree with him as I don't fancy Aquilani myself but anyway).

How you can pay 20 million quid for a player and then not be able to find a slot for him when we've won 3 out of our last 15 matches is beyond me completely.

One thing that occurred to me the other day was is the deal we got him on a pay as he plays deal i.e.we pay Roma more money for the appearances he makes.

I know that deals have instalments based on appearances and that they're usually based on blocks of games but you never know with the way things are so fecked up with us at the mo, we might be paying per appearance.  ???

I don't think that's it Rushie as the appearance side of the fee is small by all accounts. The whole "add on" side of the thing has been ridiculously overplayed on here by some other posters, we will have paid 15 million Euros for him by the end of THIS season, regardless of whether he ever kicks a ball.

:D :D :D

Don't forget that Voronin isn't even in the squad mate! I think that alone should see us in deep water with the FA :sniffle

We are saving a fortune in new boots though mate, that pair will last him a lifetime at this rate.
