Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Can we have a thread for all footballers that talk shyte?

Ferguson would probably fancy his chances of taking Torres to Old Trafford

Arsenal legend Ian Wright has risked the wrath of Liverpool fans by suggesting the current Premier League woes surrounding Anfield could pave the way for Manchester United to sign their priced asset Fernando Torres.

The Spaniard has regular professed his love of all things Liverpool, yet Wright suggests Rafa Benitez would struggle to keep the striker at Anfield should they fail to finish inside the top four and he returns next summer as a World Cup winner. The once prolific Arsenal forward intimates Sir Alex Ferguson would dearly love to have Torres at Old Trafford playing alongside Wayne Rooney.

The Arsenal legend told the Sun: “Considering the state of their team [Liverpool], they have every right to tear both Rafa Benitez and the team apart but they have stayed loyal.”

“Maybe too loyal, if the truth be known.”

“But this is a club where fans know how to respect not only their own players, but visiting ones and that is something I have always admired.”

“Benitez, though, is clearly in deep trouble.”

“Sunday's 2-1 home defeat to Arsenal just proved there is no way they will finish in the top four.”

Following Liverpool’s 2-1 defeat to Arsene Wenger’s Arsenal, Wrights suggests Rafa Benitez faces two must win games against Wigan and Portsmouth.

He added:  “And if they fail to get decent results in their next two games, against strugglers Wigan and Portsmouth, then they probably won't even manage to finish in the top six.”

“This would be unbelievable for a team with players like Fernando Torres and Steven Gerrard - a team that finished league runners-up last season.”

“And it's not as though Liverpool fielded an under-strength side against Arsene Wenger's Gunners on Sunday.”

“Torres, undoubtedly, will start to worry about the direction Liverpool are going in.”

“A year ago, they were top of the Premier League and now they are seventh - and looking every inch a team that is not going to win anything this season.”

“If Torres returns to Merseyside in the summer as a World Cup winner, something which is possible, then I can't believe he would want to play for a club which is not in the Champions League.”

“In fact Manchester United boss Alex Ferguson would probably fancy his chances of taking Torres to Old Trafford.”

“Reds skipper Gerrard could be another problem.”

“He is proud to play for Liverpool but there will come a time when he takes a step back and thinks 'How can I remain on Merseyside?'”

“I never like to see managers get the sack and I hope Benitez can somehow turns things around.”

“But now, for the first time, even some people at Anfield are wondering whether this is a step too far for the Spaniard.”

Do Liverpool fans agree with the Arsenal legend? Are you running out of patience with Rafa Benitez?

That Talksport business....i had a courtesy car last week while mine was in for a service. And it was the only station availoable on the cr@ppy Grundig stereo.

I put up with it for about 10 minutes (about 6 of them were adverts...) Whats with the gravelly voiced bloke an all

Anyway, when it DID get going it turned out to be our friend Collymore  :glare:

Anyway, to cut a long story very short - it was like having some tw@t physically READ the s*n out loud to you over the airwaves.

Tripe! Fact. End of

there is a strong point of view that if we dont end  up in the top 4 and Rafa is still the boss then a lot of our best players will move on.

hmm that did not come out right, what i am saying is that there are lots of ex players, tv reporters, ex managers that have that point of view....still dont sound right so i am going to give up lol

I gather it is on the job application form, although I guess Wright and Collymore are so well known as BS merchants they probably didn't bother with interviews

"Do you talk cr a p? Only applicants who talk cr a p at level 100 or above will make the interview shortlist. (novices need not apply)
