Well semi's not quarters is a big difference in International football. Also, he did it with a team which was in disarray when he took over. I've put RESIGNED because if you listened to rafa's interview and to some people on here, you'd get the impression the bloke was clueless and was booted out of the job in disgrace.

Like I say he wouldn't be my choice, just setting things down as they apparently are.

Its still just another stage that means you havent won - and i think Rafa was more alluding to his club record as opposed to anything he did in  a  world cup where he had home advantage and didnt have to qualify for and spent most of his time in america letting his coaches in germany doing most of the work for him .

He didnt even last a season in the german league , once again flying back to america during the week - hence his relationship with the Yanks - and why i think the owners if rafa was to go would seriously look at him .

Premier League -
Benitez failed to win the title in his first four years and despite a storming start, they now look doomed to lose out to rivals Manchester United – again. The longer he goes on without ending their 19-year hunt for the league, the more the pressure will weigh down on his shoulders.

Transfers -
Where Benitez can proudly boast of bringing in Fernando Torres, Xabi Alonso and Pepe Reina, he must hang his head in shame at signing Jermaine Pennant, Robbie Keane and Andrea Dossena. Serious doubts remain about his judgment in the transfer market.

Rotation -
The wild changes that dominated Liverpool’s recent years have been eased but Benitez still likes to rotate – and often at the expense of results. Surely the time has come for him to finally settle on a first-choice XI?

Youth policy -
Legend Steve Heighway quit as the head of Liverpool’s academy last season after a bitter falling out with Benitez, who Heighway accused of undermining his work with the youngsters. The plain fact is that the Reds do not have a single regular first-team player who has emerged through the club’s youth ranks under Benitez.

Mind games madness -
When Benitez launched a strong attack on Ferguson earlier this season, many applauded his bravery. In hindsight, the move now seems silly. One piece of advice all Premier League managers should follow is not to enter into a war of words with Fergie and United.

First time in 5 years - Even ORN failed to reach the knockout one season from a poor group and even came bottom of the group . Rafas record in europe can never be undermined .

And youth policy and reserves - all the young lads that are coming through now are all lads that rafa has found - some of the biggest and brightest talents lads like Pacheco and Kelly are lads rafa has brought through . And the reserves are now flying very high ever since Rafa brought in his own people to look after the kids .

Like I say he wouldn't be my choice, just setting things down as they apparently are.

The fact he was loathed by Bayern fans doesn't really come into the equation (Go on ask me what he was hated for ) Ok Ill tell you he was not liked for his coldness ,his naivety ,his lack of man management skills ,his bad dress sense, his showbiz friends ,his crossdressing ,his love of Michael Bolton records ,his personal hair stylist and manicurist that were forever in tow ,his personal dressing room with diamante encrusted mirror     :;):

Ok I may have been a little economical with the truth on some points ,but overall it matters not a jot what he accomplished because ,and I say this with total conviction  he has won fu*k
all and thats a valuable commodity in todays world of impatient fans ...............................................................

Yes lets concentrate on one season in europe and ignore the rest of the years when we beat pretty much every single top team there is to find within the boundaries of Europe .

But that's just it isn't it.  That points even more loudly at how far things have come unravelled.  The CL exit could be shrugged off easily if the domestic campaign was even respectable, but mate, we are nearly halfway through the season and are ahead of Birmingham on goal difference.

The next three games will have a big bearing on my outlook of Rafa Benitez for the remainder of this season, and his contract in general. The run of games coming up should be straight forward victories. Even a draw in either three will not suffice for me and religate my view of the man not to discent from my faith in his abillities, but to merely sitting on the fence regarding my outlook. The alarm bells are already ringing loudely for him, and should we struggle through the next 3 games, then he will be on extremely thin ice. With the team we now have back, he has NO excuses, and nor do the players for that matter. Gerrard has been disgraceful as a captain lately, for example. His execessive moaning on the pitch when things don't go his way, and throwing himself on the dirt at any given chance is a joke, and the way he browbeats players for not giving him the ball when HE wants it is not helping the confidence of the so called lesser players. His ego is starting to drown out the rest of the side, and he needs to be taken down a peg. Rafa has been weak regarding this, but if he dropped Gerrard, he'd be murdered for it in the press. So what can he do?
