I seem to remember something similar. The jist of it was they are not afraid to sell a big name player. I doubt they would try it here with Torres or even Gerrard. If they did that we would have a hard time just staying in the top 4.
My new blog for my upcoming holiday.

Sorry I thought we were talking about being doomed, and compared to Leeds and Newcastle, that was the reason for my post.

Top four is a trophy of sorts, and it comes with a 20 million squid cheque.

( :D  Utd losing to Villa)

Jesus H Christ :no

Now, that's what I call settling.

If that's how some people see the situation, then it's now wonder there are people happy with the way things are.

In our current situation, that's not settling, that's reality. It's also essential.

No, that is where you are wrong. It is called coming to terms with reality and accept the situation as it is.

Jack **** has improved with the club structurally these past 5 years Rafa has been here. Got even worse I would say. And we were even more **** before he came and Rafa hasn't exactly worked with competent people. 1st parry who could get a single 1st choice target signed and then Statler and Waldorf who need the transfer budget to pay of debt they incurred on the club.

Still, not stadium, and still half the match day income as manure.
But league title here we come...

It is you who believe you can be a non financial powerhouse and still win league titles. Right now we are ranked 4-5th(and going down) financially in the league and if you don't have financial muscle you don't win in football. It is how it works in the 21th century...

I might be wrong here but I thought any young player taken on by the club had to be from within a 15 mile radius of Anfield so what id going on. I believe that some would have the same skill but more committment than the foreign players, or should I say some foreign players.
Personally I think you have to question the scouting staff who are putting these players forward. I agree with you that Rafa should be given the oppotunity to take the club forward BUT if things don't work have the courage to change things espcially from dead ball situations. I also believe that no matter what competition we are in or who we are playing we should play the strongest 11 every time. Let the opposition worry about us. If there is a injury we deal with it then, also don't give out so much info at conferences. Don't give other teams days notice of our injuries etc. Hand the teamsheet in before kick off and that they can try to work out their tactics.
Sorry a bit of a rant, but yeah give Rafa the time but please Rafa if it's not eight change.

If top four is the best we can achieve every season why did we almost win the league last season ?
Rafa showed last season that it is possible to compete and but for too many home draws last season we would have won it.
Thats the point all of the pro rafa supporters have been making for a long time.
Now the same people are stating that no actually we are not really in a position where we can challenge. We were actually lucky last season then where we ??
No we were were not, we have a good team with good players, but we have a poor squad and if players get injured the ones coming in arent good enough.
We have a manager that appears to not be able to get us out of this rut and there are massive similarities with the end of houlliers reign.
He too was a really top manager for us before it all went stale.
Thats whats clearly happened now.

Like most i agree that we will make top 4, we are too good not to.
But that isnt enough and it shouldnt be the height of many fans ambitions, we came close last season and we could again if only the manager could motivate the players (in all games) Rafa this season cant.
Heads have dropped and i geniunley feel some of the players are not convinced that trophies will come under this manager.

Its a shame cos i like Rafa, but i love Liverpool and the club should come first, not some misguided loyalty.

Think we are hanging on to the coat tails of the big money clubs by our fingernails now and we really cannot afford any more miss management or mistakes by anyone at the football club. I dont rate Benitez but accept hes here to stay and hopefully he can drag us into the top 4 with a dour brand of football and we can just take the money and keep the reds amongst the best in the land.

If we have 6-7 first team players out and then we're in a very poor form, heads will drop. It is an injury crisis and considering how close we were last season the players will be disappointed to have lost the ground so much. In these scenarios, Gerrard has to share the responsbility of rallying the troops and steadying the boat. To be fair this is probably the first time under Rafa that team's morale is this low. So give Rafa the benefit of the doubt. Things are looking up again with the injuries and alot of our first teamers are returning including Aquilani. If we win today, it'll be a good start and we will be 10 points away from the leaders. How can any fan, manager or player throw in the towel if we're only 10 points behind with more than half a season to go?
