Right... Torres is only "an outstanding striker"...  ... he's not really one of probably 2 or 3 best strikers in the world he's only "an outstanding striker"... ... and how dare Rafa paid 20 million for him....

Eh?   ???

Emmmm...yeh, and along with "probably 2 or 3 best strikers in the world", he stands out with them from all the rest.

Look up the word "outstanding".

:;):

look up the word "relativity"...

Look up the word "Numpty"

look up the word "clueless"...

I can't believe I'm actually seeing a fight caused by using the wrong adjective to describe Torres.  Outstanding is still positive FFS, and an argument still boils down!!

Here are some other words for, Outstanding, to hopefully clear up this mess in the future:

A-1, A-number-1, ace*, bad*, boss*, capital*, celebrated, chief, cool*, crack*, distinguished, dominant, eminent, eventful, exceptional, famous, far-out, great, greatest, hundred-proof, important, impressive, magnificent, main, major, meritorious, momentous, mostest, number one, out-of-sight, out-of-this-world, phenomenal, predominant, preeminent, primo, principal, special, standout, star, steller, super, superior, superlative, tops, well-known, world-class

Another thread going down the lines of Rafa bashing - why dont we just all put it in one thread and let the bashes bash their lives away in that .

It would be nice to see a thread not go down that line just for once but it wont happen .

Sorry StMike  :D

Rafa Benitez has challenged Javier Mascherano to build on his derby day glory and become a regular goalscorer for Liverpool.

Rafa's Masch goal challenge - Liverpool FC

The Argentina skipper's deflected effort against Everton a week ago is set to go before the dubious goals panel but Benitez is giving his man full credit.

And he wants Mascherano and others to keep trying their luck from outside the box.

The boss told Liverpoolfc.tv: "Since the first day when we signed Javier we've talked about goals because he's not bad at shooting from outside the box.

"He can do well on this, so he has to keep trying. If he does, he'll score more goals.

"He tries in training. He doesn't score too many when you compare it to Gerrard but still it's a good and a different option for us.

"For everyone, if you're at the edge of the box you have to try. It doesn't matter what position you play - if you're a centre-back or left-back or midfielder, you must try.

"The main thing is to try. You might get a deflection. For me, Mascherano's goal was a deflection, not an own goal."

Meanwhile, Benitez confirmed Mascherano will not travel with Argentina for their unofficial friendly with Catalunya later this month.
The gaffer believes his No.20 is approaching top form and is reluctant to let him go during the crucial festive period.

Benitez said: "It's a friendly game that comes during Christmas time, and we have a game on the 26th and 28th. It's too much for us, so the best thing for us is if he doesn't go and doesn't play.

"He is coming back to the level we know. He had some problems at the beginning of the season but he's now playing really well.

"We're really pleased because we have the Mascherano we signed."

:oh:  :D

must be watching a different player to me then. it's ok shooting from range. the problem is, 95% of his shots are either off target or straight at the keeper.

in all fairness, alonso didn't score enough goals either but that wasn't through the want of trying. last season alons he hit the woodwork about 25 times. :D

Too many people living on Istanbul........today is reality......and the reality is we aint moved on, or built a team capable of wining the CL or the prem title since 05'....rafa has taken one step forward...and 2 back with our club....we are no better off than when houilier was in charge.

That's why we aren't in the race and that's why we'll NEVER be in the race as long as Benitez keeps operating the way he does. We got lucky last season (despite playing mediocre football for the better part of it), but we still :censored: it up.

Thats just a couple - look through a few more and you will see them

In a thread about winning the league, the bold bit seems fair to me.  Even comparing Rafa to Houillier seems fair game.  Saying we were lucky last season, isnt rafa bashing, but it is an annoying argument because in the 2nd half of the season we were one of the best sides in Europe and had an impressive run of league results.

No one called Rafa a c.unt, a tw.at, a great manager, or a godsend.  Seems irrelevant to me, but thats just my opinion.

Just my opinion mate and tbh its only the odd couple that bring up rafa no matter what the thread - some that dont rate him at least stick to the thread .

not saying that Rafa is great and that hes done a brilliant job is Rafa bashing i guess...

To be honest Benny, i didnt even bother looking through the other pages because i somewhat agree that most of the threads in the board today are way too repetitive.. same stuff being repeated by everyone and its getting a little boring now, regardless of whether i agree with it or not...

This thread, the last page, the one i was referring to however, i didnt see any 'Rafa bashing' or anyone even criticizing the manager .. the first bit you quoted was probably the only post that could be somewhat interpreted as a criticism .. but surely you must agree that someone stating his opinion of our side not being good enough to win the CL or the league title (with all the evidence backing them up) hardly constitutes 'Rafa bashing' ?!

The rest border on each side of average, with the exceptions of Carragher (who's probably past his sell-by date), Mascherano (who's a one trick pony) and benayoon (who's VERY hit and miss and wanted away last year).

So much wrong with that post I can't be ar$ed going into it.

Ah go on........you know you want to.   :D

Look, it's simple. Without the holy trinity of Torres, Gerrard and Reina in the squad, Liverpool are going to struggle.

Liverpool rely WAYYY too much on too few players.

...and that's a badly built outfit for a Premiership title challenge.

Right. Take the top three players out of any top side in Europe, and they'd be exactly the same. Now, unless you're Chelsea or Real Madrid or money bags City, you're not gonna have a bench with some of the top talent around. Seriously, do you even give a thought about some of the stuff you actually write at times? We've a team of top international players. Argentina is built around Mascherano. Pepe, Torres, Riera, and until recently Alonso are all more or less first choice for Spain, and the only reason Reina doesn't play for them as much is practically down to Madrid favoritism with Casillas. I think more or less the only player in our first 11 that isn't a regular in their respective national sides is Carragher, and then again he never really was. Odd, no? I suppose Carragher is a bit sh*t then, going by that evaluation, right?

first you say take any 3 players out of a top side, and the very next thing you do is contradict your previous line by listing a few teams.

argentina built around Mash? surely you mean Messi  :D

Actually I think Maradonna wanted Masch as his captain to build the team around him.  Regardless of that though, who knows what the feck he's doing seeing as they are pretty terrible right now :D.

can liverpool win the league?...emphatic no, mathematically we can but do you honestly believe liverpool wont lose more games, cos i dont.

do you think chelsea will throw away 12 points, i dont....i think what we have to hope for now is..

1. we finish in the top 4
2. man ure dont win the league.

on another note, aquilani claims he has been some sort of fit for a month, so why hasnt rafa played him?

i would put money on if he has been fit and was used more we would still be in the champs league and we wouldnty be languishing in 7th place in the prem.

another crazy decision by rafa, long line of many.

the abundance of attacking talent they have is pretty envious.

Aqualini's dad has claimed his son has been fit and raring to go but that Aqualini Understands why Rafa is being cautious with him and is loving being at Liverpool and cant wait to be playing .
