Can we still win the league?

I have had a little look at how many points you need to win the league.

The lowest ever total of points to win the Premiership was in the 96/97 season when Man United won with 75 points

The lowest in the last 5 years is a more impressive 87 points in the 07/08 season, Man U, again the winners

After 15 games we currently have 24 pts.  If we where to win every game left we would have a total of 93 points.  That means to match the lowest points total in the last 5 years we can only drop another 6 points.  To match the lowest Premiership total we can drop another 18 points.

We have another 23 games to play... If we can win all our games and draw 6 (not totally unbeliveable) we could still win the Premiership this year, but there is a huge improvement in both attitude (both players and management) and actual performance needed for this to happen.

It is possible, but do you think we can?

Did thought of this as well, we are currently 12 points from the EPL leader eventhough we've dropped so many points. I believe it's still possible.

Starting from a great performance from Aquaman in the coming Champions League game and that would surely lift some spirit and belief in the current Liverpool team.  :buttrock

The premiership title ship has sailed down the Mersey for another year unfortunately - I cannot see how we can make up the ground to win the league. Not just the points gap but the performances of late + the lack of firepower + the weakness of the squad in terms of numbers etc etc. It would take a monumental turn around in fortunes for us to get back to the top this season. If we manage another run like we did last year between Jan and May then we will secure a top 2-3 spot and that will do me nicely given our current predicament.

I am always a "glass half full" kind of a guy..  There does need to be a change but it is not totally impossible to believe that we could go on a run and draw 6 and win the rest.  Or Lose 1, draw 3 and win the rest..

This year could be an even lower points total as all the top teams are dropping points.

Lets not give up just yet, I'm hoping Rafa start being a bit more positive and letting our great players off the reign a bit.  At the start of the season Johnson was galloping down the wing causing defences all sorts of problems, Yossi was attacking the penalty box.. it seems to have stopped.. lets get back at them and start winning some games again..

Is it possible? Hell yes.

Will we? Based on how we have performed so far this season, hell no.  :(

Not a chance mate sorry  :D

Not only would we have to hit form that is not at all likely, we would have to rely on united and chelsea completley losing it.
We have alot of hard games still to go, games that we would likely lose based on the way we have been losing games this season.
United away, Arsenal home and away. Another derby thats by no means a banker.
Villa away.
We have been losing in most games that have been potentially tricky.
Its alarming to say the least.

I think we will get fourth but i think we will end up about 15 points back from the champions.

no, even though the league hasd "dumbed down this year".

in the past you'd need 90+ points to win the league. this season i can see the winners losing 7-8 games. chelsea for example could feasibly lose this many and still win it because they aren't drawing any.

the problem is, Chelsea and united have already lost a few games this season.
Ones that we wouldnt have expected.
And we are still miles behind.

Makes it to me even more frustrating as if we were at anywhere near the level of last season we would be putting both of those teams under huge pressure.

But instead we have been that poor that we are in a massive battle just for the top 4  :no
