And stop living in the past - today's game involves lots of money. Get to grips with it.

Why would it take another rebuilding excercise ? We all seem to believe we have an excellent team (when they are all fit and motivated).

Get the right manager in and he will sell some of the deadwood, strengthen where the squad is weak and revitalise the excellent team and players we have.

"Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it."

I don't live in the past mate, but I do object to those who try to rewrite it just to make the present more tollerable.

The fact is we havent the money to keep throwing it at the problem till we get it right, so better to get someone in who can manage with less money because we certainly aren't going to see a lot of it with our present owners.

We can either sit here crying about lack of money and lack of success till the cows come home, or do something about it that enables us to win the league with less money.

Mick is one of the best posters on the site, and I think its a disgrace that he has been hounded in this way.

I have had numerous arguments with Mick, from rotation to Gerrards best position, and he has never been anything other than polite and friendly. Yes he argues his points strongly, but he also gives his reasons and doesn't insult people just because they hold opposing views.

Just ignore them Mick and carry on posting.

Honestly mick you have taken over as the Forum's drama queen since peewee. You want to bow out do it, you want to keep posting do it. At the end of the day it changes nothing, the forum will survive either way (sorry to burst your bubble but you are just another poster, nothing more nothing less). To constantly theaten us with you absence (and then not do it) makes you look like your are crying out for attention. Clearly some idiots are telling you to reconsider, but if you keep going on about leaving even they will no longer care.

If you look back yourself at the way you deal with others you will see I am sure, that you are not an innocent victim but equally responsible for any grief that comes your way. Lando may be extreme in his approach, but he is dead right about you.

If BM is the drama queen does that make you the bully of the forum?
Why are you continuously picking on BM, you and Lando do little else but go around hurling abuse at people, yet the mods let you get away with it time after time after time, it is really fecking up this great forum.

yeah... this is a great forum despite all the pro-rafa members right...

The only area that has moved backwards is the ownership - everything which the manager alone is responsible for has improved beyond recognition. We're still a way behind the biggest spenders, but as far as our own level is concerned, the only reasons we are struggling are form and injuries - nothing else.

But our spending has stepped up somewhat from the Ged era, I know it's all relative and I don't know the stats but I think Rafa has been able to spend a fair bit more than Houllier. Torres, Masch, Keane and Aquilani are/were all big money signings and I can't think of many comparable buys on Houllier's part, Heskey cost £11 Million which was a highish price back then and abviously he never got to see what Cisse could do at £14 million.

Yes we've arguably been unlucky that Aquilani still isn't ready to play, but the Lucas/Masherano central midfield axis has for me had by far the most impact on our dreadful start.

Fully agree that it was a mistake not to do that but I don't think it would have had much impact on our ability (or lack of this season) to defend which is surely our biggest problem thus far? Despite being someway short of the quality we need, Lucas is busy, combative and tenacious in the middle of the park, swap him for Gerrard and I don't know that would have been anymore solid defensively.

Andy's already said it best so I'll refer you to his comments again because they are spot on.  These petty spats are doing my head in now and, as Lando knows, my card threshold has been reached and surpassed.  If you find it hard to keep the discussion to football find another thread or go do something else for a while because I'm not going to tolerate any more nonsense.  There will be no further warnings.

I don't usually call the manager cr@p mate, as I still think he is a decent manager. He is trying to do a difficult job, so I try to respect him for it, and because you never know he may just get it right yet.

I think Rafa makes too many mistakes and we could get better, but that doesn't alter the fact that he has done a reasonable job.

My main objection was giving him a five year contract, I don't believe any manager deserves such a long contract when there are still so many doubts. (I have them if no one else does)

To me its like the debate over Kuyt. Kuyt is a nice bloke, works hard and always does his best, had a good season last year, but would I change him for someone better given the chance..... yes.

That doesn't mean I am right, thats just my opinion.

Regarding Mick, just ignore him, I try my best to ignore a couple of posters on here and have found that it makes life much more pleasant..... no doubt for them as well as me.

Was trying to be funny but forgot the smiley. I see why you would stand up for mick but I never really said anything bad. If we cut out the hysteria and read my post again it is not really that offensive.

I never said it was offensive mate, just that all things considered it might be better for everyone if you ignored each other for a while.

ignoring people has worked so well for me lately, I am considering adding quite a few more to my list :D
