Dirk kuyt - Peace everyone

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

It''s not about who's "fault" it is, nor is there a definitive reason why we've won one game in ten. Football isn't as simple as that, just some people who watch it are. There is a collection of events, luck, beachballs, missed chances, good play by the opposition, poor play by us, individual awfulness etc etc etc etc which all come together to make a result in a football match.

Now, those of us who are saying Kuyt has been poor this season, and recently awful aren't blaming the fact we are failing to win football matches solely at his door, that would be silly. What we are saying though, is his presence on the right side of midfield in his current form is a major contributary factor to our lack of fluency. As I've said a couple of times, if you can't see that you are either clueless or looking through the rosiest of tinted spectacles. I've also said a couple of times that bizarrely he's probably still our best option out there, which says it all about the squad really.

As i said in previous post maybe on another thread - a post like yours is different - its full of reasons and constructive critisims that are valid and can be debated .

Totally different from the post that just state - Kuyt is <insert appropiate word here >

As for your post Kuyt presently looks shattered , running on empty and in dire need of a refresh - he is going through a poor spell - but thats pretty much the whole team - the last time he played well was the manc game since then he has been ineffective but still works his ar.se off for the team (yes i know everyone has heard it all before) but the lad is fighting for the cause and we have no other option to play their at the moment and none for the foreseakable future .

Another option out their would be great when he is off form but we just dont have it and cant see it in the future .

I have no doubt that he will return to form - its happened many times before and he will go back to creating and scoring goals - just like he has done throughout his career .

He is rightly down on the team sheet every week due to his work ethic - a work ethic some others could learn from .

yes he isnt as skillfull as others or as pacey or doesnt do step overs etc etc but the lad produces for us and once we start playing well he along with the rest of the team will start playing well .

It just needs to start soon .

Up front, midfield and at the back . The lot of them . and yes the management as well - its a team game and they all need to start fighting .

When kuyt plays well the team seem to play well - it also seems to work the other way - the team plays poor so does kuyt.

Kuyt pretty much embodies Rafas philosophy and what he sees as a good player:
Hard work, plenty of running, not disagreeable or moody, not skilful but bags of enthusiasm, will keep doing the same thing even if it doesnt work because he believes it will eventually, bad first touch but willing to try and get the ball back after giving it away.
Steadfast, dogged, determined and average...

WELL SAID!!! :bowdown

You hit the nail on the head here.

The biggest problem with Kuyt is that he doesn't accept that he is :censored: & keeps on going, torturing Liverpools fans that want to see good football.

For all Kuyt supporters, look at each goal that he scores and tell how many Kuyt actually creates himself without Gerrard providing him with a tap-in. Notice how many times Torres is out on the right wing providing the services of a winger when he does not receive any good passes/crosses.

Kuyt is just not good enough.

Yes he works hard, his attitude is fantastic and he plays with his heart, but he isn't a good footballer.

As he once again shows it today. Just awful display at times.
He just boots the ball anywhere and gets outrun by practically
every opposition player there is.

Even by his own standards, Dirk was truly awful tonight. He hasn't even got the good sense of Lucas, who when playing badly just completely disappears so you don't notice him. Dirk just carries on running round and you can't stop him.  Like a puppy who's treads in his own sh!te and then sprints around and around on the new carpet, it's annoying to watch but you kind of feel sorry for him as well.

So, when it comes to Kuyt's form was last year the blip or is this year the blip?  Some of us talk of Alonso's departure being key--and it is--but the decline/reverting to type of Kuyt has to be part of the equation when sorting out how far we've fallen from last year's performances.  Bugger. :(

His first touch on a couple of occasions tonight was staggering, utterly mind blowing. He wasn't on his own mind.

At one point in the second half, we defended a free kick properly and it got headed out to Aurelio. He sprinted over half the length of the pitch and the quick break was on. He squared it to Lucas, who passed it backwards to Kuyt, who passed it backwards to one of the centre halves. Such is our form right now.

I know, it's incredible sometimes.

I'm actually going to play a game for the next match and count the tmes Kuyt passes the ball backwards when theres an option of knocking it on.

God knows it'll be a damn sight more entertaining than watching the game.
