well i couldn't dis-agree more mate, insua out of his depth- bu11sh1t- he played well today, the fact that he was left exposed on many occasions today, the lad got stuck in, gave his all an won back possesion on more than one occasion. Aurellio was bought on to help support the lad towards the end of the game only! if he'd been out of his depth why wasn't he swapped with Aurellio in the first place? cause Raffa recognised with yossi playing so far up which is brilliant by the way! that left insua exposed more as we chased the game.

as for saying SWP carved us open - what -he was non exsistant in the first half. they were not better than us today - not for me, we didn't take our chances in both halves to kill the game off simple as that. as for our possession - we did look good in lots of the game, but as i say our midfield didn't get up in support quickly enough, that's not saying there possession or their team play was better than ours, cause i don't agree with that one bit.

Spot on about Insua. Had a discussion last night about him with a fella who thought he was tripe. My argument was that he just needs someone in front of him to give him a bit more support. Babel is a gobshyte and isn't willing to do that, his departure didn't help either. Benayoun did well in helping him out when possible, but I'd rather not see Yossi in that part of the pitch. People give Reira a lot of stick, but one thing he does do that works well for the full back is that he hugs the touchline giving the full-back something to hit each time he lifts his head looking for support. Mate Insua is a poor mans stopgap....never good enough....he is just not good enough to play for LFC or any other top 4 club..simple!

You can put Pele on Maradonnas back in front of him but he will still be Insua....very poor player[/quote]
I'm not his biggest fan, and I know he isn't up to par with what we need, but his position on the pitch is being compromised due to circumstances that are beyond the player's control. He has fairly solid games defensively at times when he's comfortable with a settled player in front of him. A lot of our players have been found wanting this season due to no settlement in the team, and that's down to persistent injuries. Players are making far too many individual mistakes, and I believe it's down to that.

Zonal marking doesn't work with men on the posts. The whole idea of zonal marking is that you vacate the space once the first ball is attacked and dealt with. If a second ball drops, then chances are an offside will be given. If you've players on the post, it makes that much more difficult. The premise is that the player or the space doesn't score the goal, the ball does. If the ball comes into your area, you get rid.

When you're a defender and you've someone in front of you that offers no cover or support, it makes your job 10 times harder. Just from personal experience like.

Can't understand why people are focusing on Insua TBPH. I thought SWP had a very quiet game until Tevez came on and started creating space for him. I can't recall Insua getting skint too often--certainly no more than Carra, the Grok or Skrtel. Speaking of, the Slovak was much the greater liability for us today. He scored a nice goal (and almost had two) and looked for a time like he was going to really raise his game at the back too but then he got caught ball-watching on the corner. The second goal was worse, though. He let Bellamy nick the ball off him down the flank to start the City move and then failed to pick up Ireland as he tracked through the box (admittedly after Lucas stopped tracking him as well). Insua's day at the office hardly merits a mention, IMO, when compared with Skrtel and Lucas.

I'd agree with that, and the fact he hasn't had much protection in front of him in games does contribute, no doubt.

But he's played in almost every game this season and I think he's proven that he's just not good enough for long spells in the team. The odd game here or there fine, but he just gets skinned too many times.

That gives us a problem left back - Aurelio is a quality player that can't stay fit, and Insua isn't quite up to scratch. It's yet another position that needs strengthening.

totally agree mate, babel's attitude stinks! he moans he doesn't get enough first team chances- when he does, he gives up too easy when he has to fight for the ball! his reaction to the challenge today was pitifull- he should be running through brick walls to prove his worth, give Raffa a selection problem even with the injury's we have, but yet again showed he is lightweight an only came back on as a token justure (cause the crowd could see it in his eyes)

when times are challenging as a FC we can do without t0ssers like him not giving everything, i have seen players in the past play on even with harder tackles than babel had today an carry on.

i couldn't give a feck if his mind is elswhere, while he is privaliged to wear the red shirt he should give everything he has as a so called talent!

he should look at players like kuyt, when his father died, he still gave is upmost to make his father proud, an also everyone connected with the club! he is a credit to this FC in attitude- somthing babel has lacked from day one.

i agree mate just get rid, babel has had too many chances for me an nothing will change his p1ss poor attitude now to even make him worthy of a first team place let alone a squad place.

Hmmmmmmm. Interesting stuff.

All's well with a skillfull attacking fullback interchanging with a defensively aware midfielder BUT when the pieces don't fit both players end up being called "sh'ite".

For me Insua still has a lot to learn whether his role is as an attacking FB or a purely defensive one. Hats off to the lad for the effort he puts in but going forward his decision making leaves a lot to be desired and defensively he's too often outfoxed.

Seems to me that unless Insua has an Aurellio or a "Riise" (remember him ? ) in front he's always gonna struggle. Sure he'll put in some decent performances but where does that leave our attack minded LM's/Wingers like Babel and Reira ? Unable to expess their full ability because under orders/game plan they've gotta be prepared to fill in for a suspect FB ?

Not in anyway suggesting that they're in the same class but would you expect for instance that unlike Babel or Reira a player like Messi would be instructed to "fill in" for the full back ?
