My aspirations are to see what comes next ,without basking in wild conjecture about the manager ,seems my more potent psychic abilities seem to be on the wane .....     ???

Aspirations, in priority order:

1. I pray we get a top 4 spot.
2. Win FA Cup
3. Qualify from group stage.

To stay in the top 4 must be the priority from now
Who would have thought that at the end of last season?

not stay, but BE. cause chances of us being in 7th place are high if the 2 teams below us win their games in hand.

Yes - I meant "stay" as be there at the end of the season.

There are certainly more contenders for the Top 4 positions  than in previous seasons and it does not bode well for us at the moment given current form and the overall strength of our squad.

Experience is all fine and well, Mick, IF Rafa learns from it. But I don't think he will because that's the kind of person he is. Rafa will turn to injuries, the owners and Father Ted for reasons we didn't come on this season. That is not learning from your experience, that's being childish.

But that's Rafa - and we have to either accept that about him or get rid.

I say we stick with him for the rest of the season and judge his performance on the season as a whole. Not August - November.

Things are grim - as grim as they can be - but it's still early days yet. It's going to be an odd season with big teams losing all sorts of points and we're capable of going on a serious unbeaten run. Couple that with players coming back from injury and others reaching the performances of last season and we'll be okay. We've got heart and we got the talent. We're just not believing in ourselves at the moment. And luck is against us.

It'll be okay.
AND HERE COMES AVI COHEN!! OH I SAY - AT THE SAME END HE'S GOT ONE BACK!!!!!!!!!!

I hope we can make top 4 its gonna be hard I think man citeh be there or there abouts but I think spurs might drop of pace after seeing them fold in Arsenal game.Villa are harder to know what they will do they could go on good run or could just lose it and drop right down. But with chelsea Arsenal and Manc's still picking up points easy vs the bottom teams I can only see us getting 4th.

Looks like Rafa is being a realist, the papers are full of him saying how he cannot be measured on winning trophies alone and that finishing 2nd is a notable achievement. Second place this season looks very unlikely as does our chances of winning any trophies.

You're right Bav, the pre-season tour was a disaster and that really rattled me and we havent stepped up a gear since then. The way we're going we'll limpt home in 6th place. I cant however convince myself that might not be a good thing. It might help the shake up and we might actually come out better for it.

Think we will still make top 4 - maybe even 3rd as can see all the teams sliiping up a lot more during the rest of the season .

Hopefully win the FA Cup and into knockout of CL :D
