We won.  Beat Birmingham.  Happy with that I am.  Didn't see the game today but even Heskey scored.  What was the performance like?  God, I love Harry!  (Thats Kewell of course, not Diana & Hewitt's ba#ta#d offspring) :p

Deserved the 3-1 victory. There were more positive signs than negative.
          player by player:

Kirkland..looked in total command of his area.
Diao......was a little uneasy at times but overall had a satisfactory game.
Biscan...didn't put a foot wrong.
Hyypia...played well, made one horrendous mistake but got away with it.
Traore...defending fine,passing poor,still a lot to learn.
Diouf.....his game was full of fits and starts.ok but you expect a bit more.
Gerrard...outstanding game,full of energy,real captain.
Hamann...outstanding game,did all the donkey work,my M-O-M.
Kewell...slow start, lot better 2nd half, scored the diving header we have all scored in our dreams.
Sinama.P..always a threat to the brummies.standing ovation when substituted.
Heskey...sluggish start, game improved after we equalised.slow to start 2nd half, got better midway through, scored a great goal to finish off the brummies.
subs:
Smicer..lifted the game at the right time, did well.
Riise....did ok,one time got caught out but recovered.
Murphy..game was won, didn't have a lot to do.

satisfactory result i think but its got to be expected against a team of that calibre sorry if i sound a bit negative but i for one expect this kind of result from us and the boys need to keep it up we have a long way to go yet!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
When you get the ball, I want you to beat a couple of men and smash the ball into the net, just the same way you used to at Bury," said Shankly. Lindsay replied: "But Boss that wasn't me, it was Bobby Kerr." Shankly turned to Bob Paisley and said: "Christ Bob, we've signed the wrong player."

Good finish by Heskey, shame he doesn't put more in the back of the net. It's good and bad that the top three have opened up a gap - good because it means 4th is easily within our reach and bad because 3rd is farther out of our reach.

Let's see if we can put a run together now, we've got a not too testing run  of league fixtures coming up that will give us some idea where we are. A target for these games should be 10 points or more

Newcastle (a)
Southampton (h)
Wolves (a)
Bolton (h)
Man City (a)

Last season that would have read LW-WW. We didn't play Wolves last season but ought to be winning against the second bottom side.

Not great but good enough. Birmingham didn't impress me much but I liked the way Gerrard and Hamann bossed things in the game. We need to step up a gear and take confidence from this result into the coming games. There is no reason why we can't put a decent run together over the next few weeks. By the way, although he had a slow start the new Brazilian guy Emilio Heskio scored a stunner. Much better than his English cousin who normally plays for us!

Depressing how a topic like "Hey! we won." against Birmingham can generate this many replies isn't it. I'm not even confident Liverpool can go on a run against the next four teams. They are just so unpredictable. Although with Hamann back you'll never know. Come on lads, lets get a run together  and lets hope Emilio Heskio can get a run in the team, if can score goals like that in the future regularly then we may even forgive his cousin for his sins

I'd rather see him tap in 20 a season a la RVN than score a belter like that every blue moon. Takes his tally to three for the season, he must get one or two in the next five games (assuming he features). Let's hope Pongolle gets one or two as well

Pongolle looks class. I saw him on Thursday when at Anfield for the Steaua game. What a snip at 3 mil . Need to keep him free of injury though. Especially as everyone ( defenders) keep kicking lumps outta him coz they don't know what to do with him.

What about fathead goin on about Pongo diving? The only reason he goes down loads is because carthorse centre backs go for him half an hour after he's turned them. The kids class and its about time we got a pen anyway.
