Mascherano rejects new contract

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

He was immense yesterday , yes he went for the challenge and he pulled his leg out of the way when he knew he wasn't going to win the ball , the motion brought him through , he could hardly stop now could he.

On him going , purslow has denied this already and till masch comes out and says he wants to leave then i'd believe it. Rafa will let him go only for 30 odd million as well + whatever we have in the transfer kitty could be used to sign both silva and villa :;):

Until he got himself stupidly sent off, that is.  Must be having a bet with Vidic to see who can accumulate the most reds in this fixture.  :glare:

Yep, Mascherano can be an absolute twat at times. I just don't think he's that smart at the end of the day.

But yesterdays sending off was extremely stupid, even for him.

Surly, he knows that Liverpool need the feckin numbers at the very least?

He only misses the CC game so its no major issues .

Actually it was myself who made the thread. It was of the express of Mail. Just a rumor right now but with his missus no longer even in England it wouldn't surprise me if he is just going to buckle down and play well this season and then request a move come the summer ala Alonso.

I think his missus has never liked it here anyway, i know she said she likes london, but i think theres more to it, some have said it might even be down to a split.

anyway the press rooms are full of news about teams going down with swine flu right now. seems some players have gone down with it from Peterborough after playing Blackburn who have 3 players down with it and some staff.

Chelsea are worried in case any of their players get it.

They are closest thing on earth to pigs(with out being pigs) So I be worried if I was then personaly.

IF drogbaaa gets it wait for the diving act in the hospital.

Chelsea play down swine flu fears

Chelsea say they are unconcerned about claims from Blackburn manager Sam Allardyce that his players could have passed on swine flu to the Blues squad.

Allardyce's side lost 5-0 to Chelsea on Saturday after which he confirmed three of his players are ill with the virus.

Chelsea have told BBC Sport their medical department are taking precautions to ensure the health and well-being of the players.

Meanwhile, Bolton have revealed four of their players recovered from the virus.

Gary Megson's Bolton side play Chelsea in the Carling Cup fourth round on Wednesday.

And when asked if he was worried about his players coming into contact with Chelsea's, Megson said: "Not from that perspective because I've heard varying opinions.

"I think the one we all need to listen to is that from the medical people, who are saying that it is very difficult, if not impossible, to contract it in that way.

"From our own point of view, you're not going to be a business with quite a few employees and it totally escapes you.

606: DEBATE
I can feel a bit of sympathy because it's swine flu being mentioned but three players missing is not the reason for postponing a game

jacey26
"You are going to get one or two with swine flu and I think on the playing staff I think we have had five, four players and one member of staff.

"You try and do your best to avoid it but I would imagine it's near enough impossible.

"They are all okay at the moment, but it wouldn't be right to start giving you names."

There are now believed to be five cases in total at Blackburn and Allardyce says Chelsea could be the next club to be affected by swine flu.

"There is no doubt about that," Allardyce said.

"When you look at the medical side of it, it is one of the most infectious viruses we have had."

Manchester United, who host Blackburn on Saturday, refused to comment while Rovers' Carling Cup game at Peterborough will go ahead on Tuesday.

Allardyce has questioned the wisdom of the Premier League letting Saturday's match at Stamford Bridge proceed, after Blackburn informed them of the first two cases of swine flu in their squad.

But the Premier League say it is guided by the relevant statutory authorities. and have told club's to seek advice from the relevant government authorities.

The Premier League have also told BBC Sport that they do not anticipate at this stage a situation where any game will be postponed as a result of swine flu.

But Allardyce believes the Premier League are shirking responsibility.

He said: "They know that we went through the right procedures and that we did not call it off because we couldn't."

One worry would be our bargaining position. Mascherano's form hasn't been the best since the summer, will that affect the price.  How demanding will he be about leaving? that could certainly affect the price as well.

Banega is too weak in defence

I think he is playing better now that he did last year on loan. and I think that any defensive weakness on his part could be down to a lack of discipline. I think Rafa would be the perfect manager for him

Another player who need discipine? How many more will come and not work out? Pennant, Bellamy ect... We dont need to risk another. Banega is ok but not great.

its a shame it only got 5sec on tv in the UK and its a shame that the numbers did not get to the march , but that due to the BTP making sure fans were turned to the ground, they had a big fear of the eco mob making things up..

I think he meant in a strictly footballing sense bav. As in Rafa could help improve his defensive awareness.

On Masch, you'd have him in your team all day long with performances as against the Manc's and maintaining that form will be a key element in helping to recover our season to something at least close to what we saw late last. The other element is composure and we saw some of that in Agger's display - simply in taking the sting out of the game and allowing others to breath (playing alongside someone as assured as he is in possession will help on the mental side of things); we'll see more of it with Riera, Gerrard and Aquilani still to come in and still to hit top form. That should convert what was a mushy centre into a ruthlessly efficient unit, which will be essential in establishing a platform for a series of wins.

Mascherano was in the papers just last week saying that he was focussed 100% on LFC now he had the Argie stuff out the way and he was committed to the cause...

3 days later and apparently now he is leaving in January or the summer.

If his reason is that his wife has not settled and is no longer living in the city (along with his child) then I don't think we have much choice but to move him on if that is what he so desperately wants to go.

If Barca want him then we'll take Yaya Toure in return - job done.

He would be very difficult to replace but not as difficult as Alonso.
