He was back to his best by throwing himself at everything and doing his trademark last-ditch tackles. I hope he manages to sustain that kind of form and prove that the critics who said he was finished were wrong.

Not just with his usual tackles and hard work. His passing was alot better and more positive.
There was a time in the first half when i think it was Evra that got into the area down the left and Lucas was tracking him - similar position to when he gave the penalty away against wigan last season. Well this time he didnt dive in, he stayed on his feet and forced evra too wide winning a goal kick i think. Showed he has learnt from a previous mistake.
There were so many candidates though.
Agger looked like he had never been away and i pray that he stays fit because skyrtel scares me.
Aurellio was class and gave Insua the cover that he needed, great freekick as well.
Carra was immense, easily his best game for us in a long time, he seems to thrive off games like that and it will do him the world of good after his poor form.
Benayoun was great as well, he showed a turn of pace that he hadnt previously to me, leaving scholes for dead with a little body swerve and accelaration.
Love to watch him in full flow running and teasing players.
Torres took his goal superbly and led the line well, but was never man of the match in a game with so many top performers.
On Johnson he clearly wasnt fully fit, we seen that in the second half when he did get forward into the united box but was too slow to get onto a ball that he previously would have, but he did enough and didnt let us down at all.
So all in all more than half the team could have had mom, but i would give it to lucas.

oh come off it mate, ive read your posts loads of times and you know your football, dont just give Lucas the sympathy vote. He was good, his best game for Liverpool by miles but there were several better than him on the day. Torres, Mascherano, Aurelio, Carragher and Benayoun were all better i thought.

I thought there were loads of candidates mate but genuinely feel lucas played brilliantly.
His forward passing was far better than what we have seen in the past and his interceptions were vital.
He was composed and him and masher imo dominated Carrick and Scholes.
He also broke forward on a few occasions and got himself in good areas, the one where he put ngog through for the goal and the one were he put dirk through when i thought kuyts first touch wasted a great opportunity.
Its all about opinions though mate and i agree any of the players you named could have been mom no problem.
