redbeergoggles wrote:Ok people Im back from a long much merited sabbatical ,and like many others I am dismayed by the fall from grace of my beloved club ,dismayed..... but not totally aghast, because in hindsight this has been coming from as far back as the two games with Chelsea in the Champions league last season ,I think I voiced my concerns about the lack of tactics ,or indeed any perceived game plan in those particular games, and I layed my cards firmly on the table after the 4-4 with Arsenal by relinquishing my  much coveted season ticket

I think what people seem to be overlooking is the turmoil this club has been in since day one when the di*ks with Stetsons strolled out and put their deceitful cowboy boots on  our hallowed ground soiling it  with their broken promises , and the perpetual obstructions, they have constantly blocked our continued progression with  .
I think in an earlier post I spoke of them being a tumour the club should remove asap before it was allowed to grow and fester suffocating our once proud heart ,well its grown people and its flourishing and laying down roots, soon there will not be a pulse let alone a heart to find ...

So desist from attacking Rafa because its irrelevant ,if you love the club truly ,you will surely know that success will ensure these two will bleed the club dry , I like to think of Hicks n Co as a form of gangrene sometimes the only viable option is to amputate a limb to ensure survival .

Lets face it people even the most myopic of you must realize  ,these are drastic times for our club ,Hicks and Gillettes publicists must be rubbing their grubby little hands with glee at the amount of sniping and backbiting that is all over the forums and Media alike .

I for one am genuinely disappointed  the posts I have read since returning from holiday  ,I expected the takeover thread to be inundated with fans expressing their concerns ,but the amount of abuse Rafa has received is quite frankly staggering ,and the lame threads that have sprung up are truly alarming its not about Rafa ,Tactics ,players,or indeed football its about  HICKS AND GILLETTE and us combining to rid ourselves of this very real threat to our future .

I am sorry my first post back is penned in such a manner ,and I genuinely apologize if any posters feel  offended by my tone ,but in retrospect I feel it needed saying ,so in summary : LIVERPOOL FOOTBALL CLUB NEEDS YOUR SUPPORT NOW ,MORE THAN ANY TIME IN ITS ILLUSTRIOUS HISTORY ,IT HAS GIVEN US SOME OF THE BEST NIGHTS OF OUR LIVES ,IT HAS GIVEN US SOME OF THE BEST PLAYERS IN FOOTBALL HISTORY ,IT DESERVES RESPECT ,IT DESERVES A HUGE AMOUNT OF LOYALTY ,NOT LEAST IN REALIZING THAT THE REAL ISSUE IS DRIVING THESE AMERICAN HARBINGERS AWAY FROM OUR SHORES ,IT NEEDS BETTER FANS THAN THOSE WHO ARE CURRENTLY REARING THEIR MISGUIDED HEADS AND SLATING THE ONE MAN WHO IS HOLDING BACK THE PLAGUE .........

Im hoping that more than a modicum of fans can see this ,because this is a nightmare that we need to shake ourselves out of ,because believe me it isn't going away any time soon ,Its not as if I can change my allegiances at a whim and throw my support behind a more successful team ,I knew a long long time ago I was in this love affair for the veritable long haul , this is a scenario that only promises to suffocate our club till it no longer shows its own unique identity ,all the admirable traits which have collated true supporters of glorious flowing football from across the globe is decaying before our disbelieving eyes .

I would love to hear once again the press bemused and bewildered by our unity again ,but right now we only seem to be hurting ourselves ,as for the booing and heckling directed towards Benitez well that's for the blinkered to discuss ,I will make no comment .

Excellent post Redbeergoggles! Agree completely that now is the time to get behind the team more than ever, starting on Sunday. Liverpool are a family but unfortunately we've been adopted by people who couldn't give a toss about the fans!

If I'm honest I respect Rafa a hell of a lot for working despite these two idiots. Shankly would have walked out long ago.

Thanks good point it is easy to forget that alot of managers might have walked out up to now.But I Guess that is down to Rafas inner character he is one mentally tough mofo.

Lee J wrote:no after all, last time we lost 4 on the bounce was 1987...

...yep, the year we won the league. ???  go figure.

Should do your research, it was 1986/1987

1986/1987

22/03/1987 Tottenham 1-0 Liverpool
28/03/1987 Liverpool 1-2 Wimbledon
05/04/1987 Arsenal 2-1 Liverpool (League Cup)
11/04//1987 Norwich 2-1 Liverpool

We never lost even consecutive games in 85/86, did have a spell of four without a winning included two defeats - lost to Ipswich away, drew with the mancs, lost away to QPR in the League Cup then drew away to York in the FA Cup before winning the replay to end the sequence.

According to the Liverpool Echo, Purslow while backing Benitez has assured fans, although Hicks and Gillette are actively looking for new investment ,they have no intention of relinquishing their interest in Liverpool Football Club

Is it just me hanging on to the belief that, Hicks and Gillette surely cant be that thick skinned ,yesterdays public rebuke had to hurt in some capacity (Surely ? ),or am I just clutching at straws ?, and need to come to the eventual realization that we are dealing with robots ,who are that transparent we can clearly see the cogs and wheels that drive their hollow hearts .

Its becoming a certainty these two will take some considerable effort to shift ,and it may take years to eventually achieve ,I just hope that the time it takes to implement our designs for the future of our club ,we are not  left surveying the burning embers of a fallen giant .....
