Well if you guys recall I was against giving him a new contract. So by your reckoning we are stuck with Rafa for the next 4 years then and if things don't change ownership-wise we'll be a mid table team, great ,happy times are here! This is not a knee jerk reaction either I've been unhappy with Rafa for a very long time.

It was the same in the summer - the world and his mother suggesting we should go after him, but why, I don't know...

Any chance we could re-buy Jack Hobbs back? Leicester fans adore him.

Seriously we could do with bringing in a couple of fresh faces who will bolster the squad - even if they arent going to be starters but towards the end of the season when legs are tired we seriously need to have better players.

Jermaine Beckford would be a good shout, I remember when Rafa was really interested in Michael Johnson at Man City - he would be able to leave for hardly anything now. Giovanni Dos-Santos is another player I think would add to our squad but would Harry Redknapp let us loan/buy him?

Well southgate scuppered everything he could for adam Johnson last summer. Adam will get more first team footie under Strachan thats for sure. He's Strachans type of player.

whether you rate him or not, i personally rate his goalscoring record

whether its italy,italy national team, bayern..........goals goals goals come

he wouldnt break the bank either, id prefer him to heskey

id start off by selling a couple of players... i still think we have somewhere around 10mill to spend without having to sell anyone... Sell Dossena and Voronin and Skrtel (if anyone in their right mind would buy him) ... and use all the money to bring in a top class CB - Mexes would be my pick- and an experienced backup striker -Nistelrooy is the pick of the bunch-...

Dont think the squad is lacking in terms of quantity... dont think most areas in the starting 11 are lacking in quality (CB is probably our weakest position when everyone is fit)... the problems that were obvious before the season started havent been addressed, and we've struggled early on because of that... better late than never though eh!

theres a lot of interesting names flying around this topic.
im not sure i agree entirely with some of them either but it is necessary that a new face or two will be a welcome addition to the squad in jan.
12mil aint a lot but who knows what will happen before then?,maybe one of the yanks will go and new owner/co owner will provide additional funds!!!
we can only hope.
personally i feel its a striker we need and a good un at that,maybe beckford,negredo,huntelaar,van nistelrooy or schneider.
if aquilani can settle quickly the midfield can hold its own until the summer..

£12m won't go far in January.

If (and it's a big IF) Aquaman comes in, stays fit and does well, Gerrard stays fit, Macherano picks up his dummy and Lucas finds the right feet to put his boots on then we should have cover in midfield (although I would take Michael Johnson from Man City...if they would sell - I note Spurs are interested potentially - as he is a very good player IMO and one for the future) meaning the priority would have to be a support striker and possibly a centre half.

I cannot agree with the idea of Luca Toni as IMO he wouldn't cut it in the EPL (too physical and fast for him). I think Rafa will seriously consider Heskey (to do for LFC what he does for England and create chances for Gerrard and Aquaman when he's in for Torres). Ideally we would look to someone like Matty Upson for the back but I don't think we'd get him for £12m. Shawcross would be my next choice.

luca toni wouldnt hack it physically?

are you kidding? hes one of the strongest most physical strikers in world football

not great pace but you dont see heskey getting behind defences these days either
