When discussing Alonso's football and blips, I don't remember many copy and pasting articles defending the game of Xabi Alonso and how important he was. I remember users of this forum such as Bob or Lando defending his football but without copying and pasting articles.

Now you read every article from London and they all seem to reckon how important was Alonso's game. All of a sudden he was pivotal. Gotta laugh.

The best players are always those who aren't here any more  :glare:

I concur with that.

Their wide of the mark.

So true but that's always the case. When United lost at Burnley they were missing Ronaldo badly. Now they're winning (despite still playing pretty poorly) there's not a mention of him, especially with Valencia having scored a couple of goals aswell.

Listen Rafa has to take some of the can here. The failure to but a striker in the summer was absolutely criminal to me. Nobody can tell me that Crouch, Keane or Bellamy aren't better than Ngog, Voronin and the likes. Ok with Bellamy it was a disciplinary issue but he's never going to change and look how he's playing for Man City now. As for Crouch wanting to leave to enhance his England chances, he's not even a first choice regular at Spurs.

The other night summed it up though. I've never seen such a poor front six finish the game. We had Mascherano, Lucas, Aurelio, Kuyt, Ngog and Voronin (shudders).

It's also fair to say that we've lost some big personalities this summer. Sami Hyypia particularly. In times of difficulty he'd be a senior pro the other lads could look to for guidance in training, who will they be looking to now?

Definitely St Michael. I don't deny that.

But unfortunately some journos make decalogues of things done by Rafa and now say it was wrong. Opportunistic.

By that logic at the end of the last season the anti Ferguson words were right because we challenged until the end?

Some BS articles going around saying Rafa is safe as the owners cannot afford the 20m it will take to pay him off if they sacked him.
My new blog for my upcoming holiday.

Let me point out aswell that I am not one who argues for or against gross and net spend. How I look at it is, how much money do we actually get to improve components of the first team minus the necessary costs involved for improving the rest of the squad?
