Mick is right. They are only slightly better than us. Last year's league table proved that, or have you - and everyone else - forgotten that? This is the same squad as last season, so what's the difference this time, and what is the cause of the poor form?

Never have I wanted a season to be over so early in, its so depressing this season. After the Hull result it looked like we might be back on track but no. It seems now the players are beaten before they step onto the pitch
All round the fields of Anfield Road
Where once we watched the King Kenny play (and could he play!)
Stevie Heighway on the wing
We had dreams and songs to sing
'Bout the glory, round the Fields of Anfield Road

there you go breaking our hearts again,
with another lifeless display,
putting us fans through so much pain,
and leave our emotions in disarray,
our beloved club is in a mess,
from the football field to the boardroom,
we expected a win and nothing less,
but received nothing but gloom.

That is so far from the truth its not even funny, maybe our best 11 is as good as utd's but come on be honest we're miles behind their squad.

I really hope we win on sunday though to wipe the smile of owen's face.

As for the cl, we need 3 big performances to qualify and anything less than 3 wins and we're in the europa league.

I agree with Mick on that to be honest.

Man for man I don't think there's much between the best XIs of both teams.  Unfortunately their squad is stronger though and we're just stuck in a terrible rut at the moment.

So funny, you made me laugh. This squad is not the same as last year. No alonso, hyypia, keane, arbeloa. Also gerrard injured more frequently. We brought in zorba the greek for 1.5m. Why did we not get owen for free? wages 3m a season. for maybe a couple of last minute goals.

Fk me, you know things are bad when maypax offers a poem.

If only we could start drawing again, remember how much we used to moan about them...... I`d take one on the weekend if it was offered now.

Your only as good as your last game, lost, lost, lost ,lost. Thumping Hull whooppee!

Our brand of football is slowly morphing into houlliers brand. only instead of long ball to heskey, flick onto owen we have got n'gog winning nowt and kuyt with as much speed as steven hawkins.

Champions league win was great but he has lived on that for too long. Only thing is i dont think we can afford to get rid of rafa and certainly cant afford to bring in someone like mourinho. So, we must look closer to home. Dalglish, bruce, oneill. Or get someone like redknapp. (no way in hell i know)

Dalglish, with molby or gary mac as assistant:D

Utterly shambolic game. Like the "team" itself, if I'm honest. Even the goal was shambolic.

There are so many problems at the moment, that I don't know where to begin.

Liverpool never looked like scoring, even though they managed to get a goal. I lost count of how many times I counted 6 or 7 white shirts with N'Gog left completely on his own. Even when Liverpool went 1 up, they never looked like they were going to win it and when Lyon got the second, there wasn't a murmur of surprise from me.

The team Benitez has built (and I use the word team loosely) is basically a mid-table affair that has a great goalie and two shining stars and when those stars are not there (or not shining for that matter), then that team is of the standard of Middlesborough.

This season is going to be a rough one and something's got to give.

I found it truly incredible that Benitez chose to go with 1 striiker up front again (really, WTF is up with that? ???), when to me the logical choice would be to play two, probably Babel and Kuyt. Then, at 1-1 and a few minutes to go, he takes the best Liverpool shirt (and only goalscorer) off?

Tactical genius? What a load of bollox.

Utd must be quaking in their boots.

At this stage, if nothing changes, Liverpool will be lucky to finish in the top half of the table this year and the owners willl be getting a loan out to pay him off and give him a plane ticket back to Spain.

No, you're right. It's not the same. It's actually better than what it was last year, if you exclude the obvious omission of Xabi Alonso. Arbeloa and Hyypia? Right. One wasn't up to much, and Sami only filled in the odd time. So, aye - it's the same f*cking squad, so stop trying to make an argument out of nothing. In fact, stop talking bollox full stop.

We are cluthching at straws now harking back to last seasons runners up spot. This year that counts are we are rubbish. Its not like we would struggle to get a manager in to try and freshen it up and there are plenty that would kill to manage Liverpool Football Club. If we cant afford a top guy already in a job we take an older statesman or a young manager on short term deals and let them have a crack at turning it around. Two names off the cuff Roy Hodgson or Slaven Bilic.
