People discuss the situation as it is - not good. We've lost nearly half our league games, and while winning at Stamford Bridge last season was not something we EXPECT to do every season, three of the defeats were games we won last season
Chelsea (a) 08/09 W1-0, 09/10 L0-2
Sunderland (a) 08/09 W1-0, 09/10 L0-1
A Villa (h) 08/09 W5-0, 09/10 L1-3
It is difficult enough to accept these defeats without having the 'happy clappy' brigade trying to demean anyone who is ANALYSING the problems rather than pretending there aren't any.
As for where things are posted, well it makes more sense to keep much of it in the main board so you can see what is new rather than have to fish around for it. If a topic isn't popular it will sink down the forum.
And absences of old regulars is unfortunate, I myself took a break from here because I think every now and then you need to. It's great if all we have to argue about is whether Kuyt is a good wide player or who is worse, Spearing or Lucas, but too much arguing added to defeats is not good for people and not really for the forum. So please people stick to disagreeing about a point made, try and avoid slurs and indirect slating ie the "if you don't get behind the team you're not a true fan" (kind of cr ap). You really think every fan in Anfield was saying after the villa defeat that all was fine and dandy?!?!?! Might that be the same fans that booed Lucas?!?!
Get real. And REAL is the best way to look at the sitution, not don blinkers and bury your head in the sand. We could mathematically win the league, but the way we're going we could lose nine or 10 games this season. If we play like we did last season we could catch up, but if we were capable of playing like we did last season then why haven't we? Maybe Aquilani will spark a renaissance, more likely we're back a step or two on last season and Rafa will need another summer or two of £40m to get back to square one.
And even if you put aside arguments about whether the money is there, is the manager tactically astute? How many can honestly, hand on hearts, say that they were overjoyed when they heard and saw the line-up for Saturday? How many thought "three points in the bag" ? And while some have defended mr 65+ minutes substitutions, how many are sat thinking "when is he going to change things?" I'm sure more the latter than former.
I tend not to come on here until the following morning, you avoid the bickering that is inevitable when people are reacting instantly and haven't had time to think about it first. Sure your opinion may not change dramatically, but you might find other people's opinion less irritating or much easier to swallow and your own reaction should be more calm and collected ie you get a 'cooling off period'. Most of Saturday evening I could have quite easily started a thread "sack Rafa", although for now part of it would be only to gauge reaction or 'test the water' because I get the feeling plenty on here are coming to the conclusion Rafa isn't going to win the league. If he isn't getting the money then that isn't likely to change in a hurry, and frankly if he needs more money than he's getting then who do people think he's going to sign that will make us favourites for the league - Ronaldo? Rooney? Drogba? Messi? Perhaps we need to shelve ideas that money will at some point no longer be an issue and plan for what we have now - or worse. Perhaps we need a manager who can turn water into wine, who doesn't need to spend £40m a summer to make the team look like a mid-table side. Because in six seasons of limited funds we came close but no cigar. And after we'd missed out on the cigar, we're now battling it out for a roll up.....................
