So you would like to see more happy clappy kind of threads?

How can we? how can we look at the positives? With our current board its fair to say confidence is low. Behind the scenes, well, we all know. The only good thing so far is the new shirt sponsorship but that in itself doesnt guarantee the future of the club. So there is one constant negative.

Rafa. His stubborn nature has cost this club. The most ardent of supporters for rafa will argue that he hasnt had as nearly as much money as the other top teams. Maybe not, but he has had money, and he has had the players. I find myself questioning him more and more. Peter Crouch for instance. Why play him so many times (17 matches was it?) before he scored a goal for us, and then when he hits scoring form, play him on the left of midfield then drop him and sell him? Robbie Keane, rafa sang his praises when we signed him, he struggled a bit but when he scored goals off he went. Also his man management skills are nothing short of awful. He has his favourites, of that no one surely can be in doubt. Alonso would still be here now. He was a key player for us but rafa saw that if alonso is off form its unforgiveable, but if his favourites are off form, they will come good. So again im struggling to find a positive thing to say.

The players. As much as the manager and board are to blame, so are the players. Gerrard hasnt been on form and unless Torres is getting his own way in a match neither has he. Torres, when he gets frustrated becomes useless. Babel, whinges on twitter when he isnt picked but when he is, shows no reason to justify rafas decision. Lucas has come under a lot of aggravation which isnt fair, he is not a match changing midfielder. He does the basics, and sometimes not well. Which makes him an obvious scapegoat. All he can do is play to his ability, but I think we have seen the best from him. Riera, has the ability but again looks like he cant be bothered and plays a half @ssed game when he is picked.

So, to look on the bright side, well its difficult. So many things are looking so wrong at the moment, its hard to pick out the plusses.

Aquilani playing his first game will be soon, so thats good.

We have a match tomorrow rather than wednesday which will help relieve the frustration, should we win of course.

An on form Torres and/or Gerrard does make the difference and hopefully, with missing the sunderland game has given them the perspective they needed for the coming games. They now know what is needed of them to inspire their team mates.

Other than that though, its hard to mention this season so far with a smile.

This place is too confusing these days.

BTW, what if we beat the Mancs on Sunday? Isn' that us right back in it again? Na, f*ck it! Let's all throw the rope up instead.

If we beat the Mancs the forums will be full of posts about how we'll win it, how Rafa is foolproof and how great the squad depth is :D

I think you do well. Not having hope does not make the defeats much sweeter, does it?

If that's how you define spam then there's far worse I can assure you  :D

My own view is that player polls/10 without discussion adds very little to the forum (what can you take from it?). That's closer to spam than most other threads with good intentions.

There would have been 1 thread to discuss all the ratings fully, so that it was in 1 place rather than 25 threads. Most of the discussions on here lately turn into flaming and name-calling so I thought it would be better to have it in 1 place.

Still, it's not happening now so there shouldn't be a problem anymore. The polls will slip down the pages into obscurity and be forgotten.

BTW, I wasn' having a dig at you, Bammo. Just to be clear. It's just the general mood in this place at the minute and has been for some time, not jus after the recent spate of bad results.
