You know a forum is going down the shitter when

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

There's about 10 polls on players occupying the main page. I understand the irony of this thread. It's pointless, yes. Well, perhaps not, as I actually do have a point. There's also not enough constructive outlook threads, where instead of moaning and bitching about our current form and sticking the boot into player and manager alike, people can actually try to look at the bigger picture for a change instead of spitting the dummy?

That's all. Thanks!

Dont be soft Ste you going over the top a bit there ,constuctive outlook thread  This place would go into meltdown. Some look at the big picture on a 17 inch tv an some look at it on a dirty big plazma, The 17 inchers can only see a one frame at a time , but the plazmas can see it in sterio ,HD. widescreen the lot, while sittin eating a bucket of popcorn :nod

The forums not going down the sh!tter, it's just evolution. People like S@int and Ace are no longer around it seems which is a huge shame IMHO, while even the likes of GYBS are sorely missed. Ultimately though, people just get bored of it and new blood comes in. I'm going the way of all flesh meself before too much longer (which I know will make many ecstatic :p) but it's not because the forums going down the sh!tter, it's just that at some point in time you have to find something else to do for an hour or two a day. Everyone moves on in the end, retires if you like, it's just the way it is.

Predictably I see the "looking at the bigger picture" and "spitting the dummy" from the opposite perspective from yourself. If you read the Sunderland match thread, some people were strapping their bovver boots on getting ready for a forum punch up with anybody who dared to moan before the game even finished. I copped a fair bit of stick on there myself, and I was in bed asleep :D. After the game, the only real angst which I've read has come from people desperately trying to discredit anybody who moaned.

Even the moaning has been fairly measured I think. Probably mainly because people CAN see the bigger picture, and they can see that this isn't one of our bl!ps, and that we do actually have fairly serious problems both as a team and as a club. Even moaners are "real fans" contrary to what some on here will tell you, and they are as gutted by our showings this season as anyone else. Not angry in most cases, just gutted.

:Oo:

Fair enough Emerald, or whatever your name is....The polls are a bit daft - cue Mods !
But how about you suggest what people should be upbeat about after 3 consecutive defeats, a crucial game tomorrow without the top striker on the planet, a game against the spawny gets at the weekend, a manager who was notable by his apathy after the defeat to Sunderland, a club run by two morally dysfunctional megalomaniacs, a club which cannot seem to replace like with better (even like would be nice at the moment), a club that doesn't promote from within.....

Let me have a think for a moment where the positives are....

Ummmmm....

Errrrr......

Nah, over to you....

Very true that forums evolve and that more often than not most posters stop posting for one reason or another. Myself I don't feel like posting as much as in the past, I may be evolving into a lurker, but I think I'll stick around because I need this window to know about the club, I don't have the luck to be in England and have radio/tv talking about Liverpool.

For the posts I write in the near future, I want to make clear to the most demanding posters, that it is not my intention to make up excuses for the manager, nor winding them up for saying so. It's just that sometimes, when you see something as strange as a goal involving a fúcking balloon, you have to moan about it to feel better. That doesn't mean you think Rafa was perfect, that means that I'm fúcking frustrated by a fúcking red balloon, if you see what I mean.

We don't decide here whether Rafa stays or not, and quite frankly I don't feel like finding for culprits after every defeat. Not because of personal reasons, it's just that I've discussed about the matter too much. These days, after a defeat, I just want to get off the chest a couple of frustrations, a couple of opinions about the players, and that's it.

Me too Sabre....I can't keep beating the missus after every defeat - they happen far too often these days, and the neighbours would surely start to talk  :D

You could have slotted this thead in general section and all the polls in the player lounge or polls sec. Lol looks a little messed up.

I actually find it funny now that the polls I started were considered so pointless that instead of ignoring them and letting them slip down the page into obscurity there have been 2 threads created complaining about them.

Strictly speaking the polls should have gone in the polls section. Same as all player chat should go in players and so on... The trouble is people don't even know other sections exist. People were kicking off on here when the game threads were put in the Games section.

Oh sorry, I should have put this post in another thread.

I think its directly related to the success of the team.

When we win we're all happy so we post. When we lose 4 out of 9, we find more enjoyable things to do! The way this seasons going it'll be Mick making long posts to himself soon.
