As I said earlier, if they don't know the rule for sure, the game should be paused until they find out. It's not a throw in FFS it's a goal, and in a multi million pound industry like football the rules have to applied correctly. It's absolutely open and shut, it clearly states in the rules that the goal is null and void and they should have found out before awarding it.

I'll tell you this here and now for free, if it was the Mancs they'd be campaigning for a replay. there might even be something in it, if a sub had scored the winner when they had twelve on the pitch or something it would be played again.

Behave Mick - If there was a replay with that sorry fkg excuse for a team they would probably get beaten by far more than 1-0. Why risk making our goal difference worse! lol

Finding this lot a bit funny though! We had a decent run of luck at the beginning of last season when we weren't really playing that well and I guess after yesterday we can say that our luck has well and truly run out!

Balloon - Buffoon (We've got plenty to chose from)  WTF !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Blame? ???  Rafa. For buying absolute :censored: up front. Crouchy, bellamy, keane all gone. We bring in babel, voronin, n'gog. Please figure that out?  Blind faith in rafa is getting us rather screwed.

A british manager to get this club where it needs to be in the prem. Forget europe, we need our bread and butter. Look what them lot down the road are doing. Not p;laying well, but still top of league. Reminds me of a team that use to do it for twenty years. Seems along time ago though, who was it?

That as may be, it is rather an excuse and shouldn't be used. You can't complain if you lose because of a goal that shouldn't have stood, or if you don't get one (ie Stoke last season) that should, if that is what you are relying wholly on ie if we deserved a win then it wouldn't have depended on ONE incident.
owzat:
"I've said for a long time we don't score enough goals, the real culprit was a Mr R.Benitez who was pictured more times I'm sure than the kid who threw the beachball on the pitch. Poor system, probably the wrong game to play that pairing of Spearing and Lucas and then when we're not looking like scoring he waits until deep into RST (Rafa Substitution Time) to try and correct it.

Honestly we were probably lucky it was only 0-1. Anyone know how many times Rafa has tried three at the back and if we've not lost in any of those games?"

Are people seriously blaming that kid for our defeat yesterday? If so, get a Fu*king grip! There was plenty of opportunity for somebody, anybody to get rid of the thing. A freak occurance? Yes of course. Sh'it happens. Good luck bad luck.
What we should be more upset about is tha we had 85 minutes, plus 7 minutes added on, in total 92 minutes to do something about it. The fact that we were lucky to come away with 1-0 says more about the state of the team than a beach ball causing a defeat. Rafa is being found out badly. His teams, tactics, formations, style of play, players that have stayed and those gone. The very spirit of the club is being exposed for all to see and take advantage of. He is struggling, trying to convince us, the players, but mainly himself that things arent as bad as they seem and that good times are just around the corner.
I predicted we would finish second. I am not going to change that prediction. But I hope the Aquilani is worth the wait and that Torres and Gerrard are fit and available asap. Otherwise its going to be a cold, cold winter...

I was watching MOTD and the ball was in the back of Reinas net before the goal,so either the wind blew it out, or Reina threw it back into the crowd.
We cannot blame the lad, as we have blamed Parry, the Americans ,Rafa...etc etc..

i feel sorry of the kid, lots of fans do it game in game our, yes the goal should not stand (yes i was wrong about that) but at the end of the day we should have also moved the thing in  the 4 mins before the goal......and them we also had the rest of  the game to fix it and did not.

What kind of evidence is there to suggest that Reina left some giant rubber ball sitting in his area for 4 minutes?  ???  Judging by what we've seen of Pepe, he doesn't strike me as the 'can't be arsed' type.

If the head of the refs think that the goal shouldn't have stood...maybe he should tell his refs to favor our players for the next 29 matches ... a couple of penalties each game would be good for starters...  :p

Not to be sceptical but maybe there was more than one red beach ball?Perhaps there were many in the crowd...maybe some alchy was selling them outside along with his scarves??Just a thought!
