I think rafa up to now has been lucky that his poor buys in market havent ment that much to hold a top 4 spot but now with City and other teams really with good backing the fact he has bought poor in last 3 years has shown and really like Bav said if we finish top 4 it would be a massive surprise.

Down and out!!! Well most likely anyhow! scums will snap the title and take over our record. Fecking they lost there best player ronaldo and the inspirational tevez yet we still ended up buying poorly and fecking up again!

What i would like to know is had we spend that 20 mill on a player who is fully fit how different things could have been...

Yeah I thought we should have took gamble on Martins from Newcastle and might have had money left over.

We're not down and out but we need to buck our ideas up pretty fast, starting against United at the weekend. Strangely enough I fancy us for that one (I was more worried about the game at the weekend against Sunderland).

The League isn't as strong this season it's plain to see. It's not a top 4, it's basically a top 7 with Man City, Spurs and Villa in there aswell. They'll be a League winner with more defeats than ever before. United have been average at best and could well be without Rooney against us. Chelsea are defending poorly recently. Arsenal are just being Arsenal (destroying all the cannon fodder in the League but losing to the decent sides).

We have to win on Sunday though to cut the deficit on them to 4 points. Lose and we're pretty much out of it imo.

right now we don't know. by the end of the weekend we'll have a much better idea whether we're in big trouble or just suffering a blip. decent results against lyon and the mancs and we'll all be feeling a lot better. bad results against lyon and the mancs and we may well be down and out of it on two fronts - and that would be a serious problem.

its a massive week for us.

It just winds me up though when whoppers in the media start spouting off that Rafa should go. Collymore said last night that Mourihno would "guarantee the title for us within 2 years" which is quite frankly nonsense. His argument was players would "run through walls for him" (like Carra, Gerrard and Kuyt wouldn't do that for any manager). ???

On Rafa, he's done well to close the gap but it's more difficult for us because we haven't got the experience and mentality that comes with having players at your club that have won the Premiership before. There's also far less margin for error for us when it comes to buying the right players.

so we are in a catch 22 then we can't win becuase we haven't already won,

Listen, despite what he's working against he's far from blameless. Infact he's probably made more mistakes this season than in the last 2 seasons combined. For me you can not dissolve a central midfield partnership as formidable and key to how the entire team functions and expect no repurcussions. The defence will suffer because it is far less protected and the attack will suffer because it receives a far lesser quality of service.

What a massive week this is - tonight obviously isnt as big as Sunday but if we can win comfortably tonight then I think we will be going into the United game with a whole lot of confidence.

If we can beat United on Sunday then I think our season will turn around - players will start to believe again.

One thing I will say is that Rafa needs to get his tactical brain back on.  :;):

NEVER listen to collymore, he is a prat that occaisionally remembers he played for LFC and now and then talks as if he cares about the club. I'd take his views with a pinch of salt.

Mourinho needs to have one of the best two clubs in the country and then he's in with a shout if he spends money. He won at Chelsea because of a big budget, Inter and Porto were the biggest clubs in their respective countries and weren't Inter already winning the league before him? Fair enough he won the European Cup, but in a season the top clubs floundered and that they beat Monaco in the final says it all about that season.

If he'd suggested Wenger then I could see a point, a manager who has had limited budgets to work with and achieved despite all that. Give him the reins and I reckon he'd get the best out of the players there, maybe only spend £25m in the summer instead of £40m, but we'd end up with more players and more impressed. If he didn't have to sell every time a big offer was made, then we could only move forwards. For me a change of manager could mean Torres wants to leave, but many more seasons without the league or a trophy could see him leave if a new manager doesn't come in - it could go either way
Never buy from PC World, product quality is poor and their 'customer service' is even poorer
