Good win

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Nice to see us win in the CL and another win at Anfield.

However I don't think that we should take Garcia or any other player for granted nor should we depend on one player because what if god forbid the player gets injured then what? We can't revolve our game around just one player, thats my opinion though because I don't want us to be bad squad when our key player is missing. We should always look strong. Those are just my thoughts, whether you agree or disagree feel free to post.

When January comes Rafa will strenthen the squad now he knows the players he has, also things are ok between him and Valencia now so hopefully he'll be able to get Ayala, Mista and Aimar  :upside:

I feel our current squad is good enough.

Kewell had a good game, as did Garcia, and Cisse had a solid game as well, not to mention Gerrard who was brilliant as usual. Defense was also good although they had little to do.
Dudek however, looked very nervous and didn't come and get a few crosses which shoud have been easily claimed, which Carra was a bit bemused by.

A good performance though and an encouraging win going into the Manu game.

What about that Baros goal? He is a bit lightweight when it comes to battling it out with the tough and strong defenders but he is very skillful...

Some people rate extremely. Baros was god having seen him in the Europe2004. Then they think Baros should be benched having seen him in a few recent games. If you try to rate him in appropriate judgement, Baros is Baros, a very talented player, a player with large space to assess and explore, Europe 2004 top-scorer, etc.

Put Baros as not an LFC player to perceive him from outside. If there are some talks about him possibly coming to LFC, you will immediately say: grab him!. Now he's actually here already, some people should be more than thankful for that. He's definitely our precious asset.

I think so far the Liverpool midfielders have been trying to feed Baros with balls they used to feed Owen with, when Baros was in the starting line-up. He has some tricks up his sleeve that he can turn defenders but he does not yet have owen's predatory instincts and ability to move into space off the ball. This is why he struggled in the first few games.

A different approach should be considered for Baros?

It was good see both our strikers on the scorecard, as Rafa seems to like playing with only one out and out striker it does give him somes selection headaches which should be looked upon as a good thing

A.B was saying about stengthening the squad so I just said when January comes he will look at the situation now he's knows what he's got.

A great result and I had a feeling that we weren`t threatened at any point. I wish I had the chance to attend the match at Anfield, but I watched it in a local pub, where manure fans viewed their match on the first floor while we viewed Liverpool on the second floor. This had to be the second best after attending at Anfield; Us chearing on the second floor, and the vodafone-costumes swearing on the first floor

Player ratings as i saw it last night:

Dudek 5 – Had little to do so it seems unnecessary giving him a rating. comfortable on crosses but some suggestions that he still needs to communicate with the back four better

Jossemi 7 – For what we paid it looks like a steal. Here' a full back who can do what full backs are meant to - support the midfielders and attackers whilst going forward, while defending solidly in their own half

Hyypia 8 – At last Sami looks like he's getting back top his best - the rock at the back

Carragher 7 - Partnership with Hyypia as centre back really coming together

Riise 6 – Nothing spectacular but his defending has improved leaps and bounds. Slipped up a couple of times but overall pretty solid

Finnan 7 – Linked up well on the right flank with Josemi in the first half and then faded a little in the second. Still has looked far better than when coming back from injury in the second half of last season. Offers us genuine width. If he keeps performing like this, Numez will really have a fight on his hands to push into the first team

Alonso 7 – Crisp passer, defensively sound and great reader of the game - a younger and fresher Didi Hamann

Gerrard 8 - Although he now has others to share his phenemonal workload, was still the heartbeat of the team and the driving force behind all of our best moves

Kewell 7 – A few duff moments but overall reminded us of why we signed him in the first place and was a threat throughout

Garcia 8 – Despite fluffing two clear cut opportunities, Garcia was at the heart of almost every attack with nice little flicks and one twos with other players. A real creative force which is just what we have been needing. Once he sharpens up this guy could be one oif the Premierships biggest success stories. Let's hope so

Cisse 6 – Well taken goal and alert throughout the game, although his ball control again let him down. Missed a glorious opportunity when one on one with the keeper

One general comment, which has been picked up by other posters, was how much I enjoyed watching us play - direct, stylish and incisive football with a real flow to it - I don't remember too many games like that under the old regime.
