Didnt he just sign a new contract this summer? I agree though with the way Rafa was :censored: out of being able to spend the Alonso money a swap deal would be the best option. At least then we would have a better chance of getting in a decent replacement. Toure is probably the only one good enough to fill his boots. Well maybe if I was dreaming - De Rossi.  :eyebrow

For me the bottom line is, if Rafa can get in a replacement as good then get rid of asap.

Though 23 million is nowhere near enough for him and hopefully we won't be forced into selling him come the window.

He's been "unhappy" for some time now and it does seem to be reflected in his game.

No point hanging onto a player that doesn't want to be here. However given our midfield situation the best solution for all concerned  is maybe agree a sale asap but with the move to take place in the summer.

Agree the £23 mill is far short of what we could get for him.

Why the crazy valuation for Mascha if Alonso went for £30m? Sorry I don't get it. Mascha is a great spoiler and half the time he isn't really needed against poorer opposition. Creates absolutely nothing, never scores and just occasionally completely fks up and the likes of Chelsea score!

What he gave the ball away in their half ye mean ?
Terrible that isnt it ?

Stop bein a plank.

I've never been a fan of Masch, never. Infact I think he is over rated by many. I would rather of kept Alonso and got rid of Javier but thats life.:(

So far, Lorik Cana has played better than Mascherano this year. And as some pointed out over the summer; he could have been bought then as a cheap replacement IF Mascherano seemed hell bent on leaving. I'm happy to hold onto Mascherano as long as he is dedicated to the club. £23m is a bargain for Mascherano if he is focused but a heck of a lot of money for him if he is distracted.

Hopefully Argentina have a good WC (providing they don't coc.k up against Uruguay). We should be able to get a lot more for him after the tournament. Id be looking for around 28 - 30Mil.

I thought he was excellent against Chelsea, before the first goal. Breaking up plays, playing with confidence, tackling hard, the old mascherano.

I think with more quality we need in midfield (Lucas is shyte), like Aquilani, we will see a better Masch.

I honestly feel the same disbelief I felt with Alonso when I read how quick a Liverpool players loses all the credit for some fans. Body language? How many times did we get wrong the body language of Rafa and Gerrard?

I have full confidence in the little chief. Give him a settled CB line, give him a similar partner in quality to Alonso, and you'll see how Mascherano is again what we're used to.
