Down but not out... - How are we placed?

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Postby Sabre » Fri Oct 09, 2009 3:20 pm

The discussion of football in newkit is better than the football discussion I see in other forums of Spain and England.

Yet, it's poor. It is poor now, it was poor but more lively 2 years ago, and it was poor in 2005. A forum that is composed by a few dozens of posters and more than a hundred readers, is not changed radically by 4 or 5 people that are missing. They may help to get the place more lively, but they won't improve the football discussion.

In the best times I've known of newkit football as a game was discussed very rarely, and most of the discussions where around football players and their abilities. The tactics and the game itself were rarely analysed, and when it was done, it was on the surface. But at least there was a lot of good discussions on players, them being good enough, and that's football aswell. It was very entertaining.

These days it seems a forum about who said what in the past and who is right. The tactics are not discussed, and about the players we discuss more about what side of the fence you're on. The discussion is about being a Babelian or not. Then of course you are invited to post in a thread that talks about how's the manager doing, so that you can properly be labeled as a blanket thrower, a Rafa Basher, an Anti, or perhaps a Rafalite.

You might get tired of that, and decide not to enter those discussions any more, so you go to the off topic section and you learn that the problem of the football discussion of this forum is that 3 or 4 guys who are missing are not here. You smile, and you move on.

I don't know if any of you do from time to time the exercise of imagining to be a newbie. Just read the threads pretending you don't know anything about the posters, and about the newkit folklore, and read the whole thing that come across by football discussion around here. Read all the "others" comments, all the stalker thingy, all the blanket thrower//Anti//Ooter labeling, imagine you don't know all the "hungry cheetah" expressions we have all coined. Then imagine the newbie looking at the top of the screen making sure he's in a footie forum. I can't blame him, *we* (I'm guilty aswell) have made that out of newkit.

Anyway, if the problem to improve a poor discussion made by hundred users, is to bring back 3 or 4 of them, then for all I care, do so. I doubt that the situation will revert back to 2005 if it was done, but at least we could save all the periodical requests and the posts on behalf of someone, it's a bit of a joke this. If the mods decide not to, then well, I respect that because they're the ones who have to read all the shít that I skip and have all the knowledge of the current politics of this forum.

I went on a boating forum once asking a boating question. The question was answered but within the thread all sorts of battles were going on (none of them boat related). I knew then that it is in peoples nature to talk sh1t when no personal connection was present. It is not about this forum it is about human nature, I would not take it personally.

s@int wrote:It seems many decent posts on here are few and far between on here these days. This has resulted because a couple of mods would rather 'flex their muscles" on here in the way of a power trip. Than actually contribute quality football discussion. They'd sooner feel better about themselves if they hearded and censorerd what people said, rather than talk about football. I'm sure they know who they are, one who plays victim and twists words in his defence. Once the 'defendent' (me) has been banned and is unablke to put his point across. And the other, well what can you say... A Maple leaf who does not belong.

Anyway, the fact the somebody brought this post onto the forum says it all.

Ah ! the politics of the forums long standing coat holder.

And pigs might fly

Your banned "mate" has a problem with the "Mods" and laces every proxy post (through you) to have a bite.

It's not on S@int, you post it you take responsibility for it.

the reason the forum is going downhill is people are posting books, not just short succinct points..people get bored and leave. for the most part the people that are banned are banend coz they are tonks... and good riddance... plus there are just some plain stupid threads

Just to clarify the criticism of my post was aimed to everybody including me, and that it's not a joke to post something on behalf of someone (I even did so), but keeping the same situation for a long time.

Not interested on a flame war.
