Could aurelio play in centre mid? - Madness? this is sparta

We all know how great Aurelio is at making long passes and crossing which makes me think that maybe he could try out a similiar role to which Alonso played.

Remember that match against Pompey where he played in the midfield? I though he did brilliant, possibly man of the match and that is him playing in a position that is unfamiliar to him.

And Insua has really stepped up over the past year and is doing a really good job at left back.

Just a thought though! Wadda you guys think?

Rafa has already said he can play center midfield.  :glare:

Good shout, but if it fecks up I blame you
All round the fields of Anfield Road
Where once we watched the King Kenny play (and could he play!)
Stevie Heighway on the wing
We had dreams and songs to sing
'Bout the glory, round the Fields of Anfield Road

yeah i think he did brilliantly in that game, although it is portsmouth. but seriously, anyone would probably do a better job than lucas.
i think he does a good enough job, but it isn't quite enough.
so i say, sure, let's throw aurelio in there until aguilani is ready.

I would say he´s not physically big enough or sufficiently imposing for that role. The lads a great player, a great LB but too nice for CM.

I didn't know Aurelio was good at long passes, good news if he is though but only one small fly in the ointment, he is constantly fecking injured, for fecks sake he gets injured playing footie with kids!  :no

I can see where you are coming from but I wouldnt really say that his physicallity is a problem.. I mean mascherano has a big imposing role yet he is only 5 foot 7. Barcelona's Xavi plays the role of a distributor and he is only 5 foot 7. Aurelio being five foot 8 should be able to cope then?

I watched that Pompey game again a couple of weeks ago and TBH he wasn't that great.  First 15 minutes he was OK but then they closed him down and forced him onto his right foot.  We didn't control the game until Xabi came on.

I'd definitely have Lucas ahead of him.

No. Why is there an obsession with playing players out of position all of a sudden. I remember that Portsmouth game and as said above he didn't pull down any trees.

I wouldn't mind him playing infront of Insua on the left side occasionally though.
