Chelsea were pretty good, they created a lot of chances and were attacking from the start rather than the last 30mins like we tend to do. The Mancs looked average but Chelsea will be a strong side this season.

Even so, Arsenal have the best two results at woodison of the big four in the past three seasons (6-1 and 4-1)

Maybe it is an over-reaction, but then people are just as quick to write them off. Arsenal on their day can do that to anyone, didn't they wipe the floor with the bitters 7-1 a few seasons ago?

They hammered someone in the Carling Cup a couple of years back as well. On their day they are a fecking good side to be fair, but no football team has good days all the time. the trick is to win when you're not having one, Arsenal haven't been able to do that enough.

Their youth team did that to someone in the FA Youth Cup final didn't they, can't remember who was the unlucky s*ds to be on the receiving end.

It doesn't take much for Wenger sides to click, they may seem harmless then next thing you know they've gone unbeaten or reached the Champions League final. Write them off at your peril, they've more Premier league titles under Wenger than we've won and managed to annoy ORN et al. Maybe had he been in charge at Highbury back in the early 90s the mancs would have been nipped in the bud

I seem to recall their youth team wiping the floor with our a team a few years back.

Yeah well Press as a whole have been banging on about Chelsea and the Mancs. They are strong of course they are.But I think arsenal have the strongest squad around from top to bottom they look ready. They have last 2 seasons been way below par for what there squad can do.I feel with addyasshole out the team there squad will be a nicer place to be and they will have better spirit. You can go on about the defending on Everton but you still have to step up and make those chances count and they did it with style !

I want us to win league this year of course but If we didn't only one team in top 4 I rather win and that is Arsenal as I have massive repsect for there manager.I could even say more then our current manager. But I still love Rafa more of course.

The biggest threat to our title chances is ourselves....if Rafa cant sort this mess out, get rid of the :censored:...and bring in a class CB and a striker to support torres then its another season of woe.....thats the reality of it...never mind worrying about other teams, lets get our own house in order.

Seems nothing much has changed, certainly not in the right direction. I think my comment "Rafa" is the most accurate and to the point thus far. Tactically he is the same inept man he was the past five seasons, no changes on the pitch unless there is injury or the man coming off is called Keane until around the 65th minute, too few worthwhile subs on the bench and the whole team looking a lot worse on the pitch than on paper. You wouldn't believe we had one of the best goalkeepers, one of the best CBs, one of the best RMs, DMs, AMs and CFs in the Premiership STARTING on Sunday against a side that struggled early last season. Maybe spudz simply have a better manager, knew that Defoe was the striker to sign and perhaps gets more out of his players than Rafa ever does.

Does anyone else reckon that if spudz had Gerrard and Torres that they'd be more likely to make a title challenge than we are? Bless Gomes with consistency and their CBs with fitness and I reckon 'arry might have a decent shout at being the first Englishman to manage a team to the league since Howard Wilkinson.

One thing I am reckoning is that I was right all along about us being better off selling Mascherano than Alonso. Our midfield has a big hole in the middle and I'm reckoning we might as well sell Mascherano to rebalance it. Only two weeks left in the transfer window, might be too late in more ways than one.

Was Mascherano's perfomance really down to the fact that he wants out?  If thats the case the only 2 that appeared to want to stay on Sunday was Pepe & Johnson!

bigmick wrote:I voted "others". It's a combination of tight-wad owners, over-rotation and too defensive a mindset. Those three things are the biggest potential barrier to us winning it I think. Fortunately, if we avoid too many injuries we may be able to overcome the first one if we can field our best eleven or very close to it lots of times. If however we CHOOSE to weaken ourselves needlessly by rotating too often and too heavily, or we CHOOSE to settle for a point in games when we ought to be going all out for wins, that will scupper our title chances pretty quick smart.

I can only assume also that most of the people who have commneted haven't actually voted. "Others" really ought to be the clear leader here  ??? :(

My vote also went to "the others".

There will be no stopping the obvious decline unless the owners are gone.

A big thank you to David Moores for putting himself ahead of the clubs future last year. Moores has been responsible for most of this clubs demise. For hiring Evans. For hiring Souness. And for not building a new stadium 15 years back. Allowing others to bypass Liverpool. Killing off this club slowly, but surely.
If football is banned in heaven. I'd rather go to hell.
