Relax all it's only the first game. We are at home to Stoke next so a good chance to get rid of the cobwebs and get into gear. The Mancs are without Ferdinand for the net 3 games and that other CB for them Evans is out too.

We will come back strong against Stoke want and see. Speaking of which could some mod unlock that thread now?

There is no-one anywhere in the world at any stage who is any bigger or any better than this football club.

When the idiots keep maintaining that the pre-season games mean nothing....well what does this show ? we were warned in the pre-season games....

Benitez had time to repair the damage...but for some reason Benitez was more interested in talking about alonso...mancity...whatever..

Them yank kunts have spent feck all in 3 transfer windows now how is that Rafa''s fault? Explain.

Did you or Lakes see our bench today? or did the pair of you just have your I hate Rafa specs on?

It's shocking looking at our bench. Anyone who thinks we have a squad capable of challanging for the title needs their head checked. With this squad Rafa should just concentrate on a top 3 finish and try to win in Europe instead.

A lot of the players that feature pre-season never make the squad on the first day. Pacheco, Nemeth etc whilst it's nice to see what they can do you wonder what the objective of the pre-season games are.
Seem to remember Vorinin playing a lot in a similar situation last season...and then went to Hertha, what's the point in that then?

Spurs had 4 international class strikers available today, we had 1 - that's a joke.

Rafa recently saying he was happy with the striker options , he can't be serious when he mentions Ngog and Babel - the latter has been with us for 2 seasons now and we still haven't seen what he can do (if he actually CAN do anything of course)...how he gets in Holland's team is beyond me.

Benny should have started to day, it's a disgrace he was left on the bench.

Why? according to you?

He was cleared by the league as suspensions can only be served for one club. All clubs agree the rules prior to the season.

We were awful today. And if your all being honest you have to admit that Spurs were not only better than us on the day but on the face of it they have a stronger squad.

Losing Alonso could be Rafa's single biggest mistake of his career.

In terms of defence it looks like Ayala/Kelly will feature on Wednesday so I am sort of looking forward to that. It's about time we blooded in some youngsters. I hope Carra/Skrtel are not too badley injured.

Anyone know when Riera is back for us?

Bretc wrote:Why didn't Rafa play Benayoun in the first place? Babel was a complete waste of space on the left! The next Henry my foot! We looked 10 times more dangerous when Benni came in. Babel contributed NOTHING!!! Our defence was in shambles and both Carra and Skrtel were having a field day giving away free kicks in dangerous positions. Both goals from Spurs were a result of 2 of these free kicks. We gotto improve in our next game or I wun be surprised if we lose to Stoke.

Benitez does this a lot of times...He starts with the wrong team numerous times. He then makes the changes and sometimes we get away with it...and sometimes we don't.

Why can't he just start with the best team ?  Its like he never learns from his mistakes.

Lucas to step up ? give me a break.

The thing that frustrates me the most is that the script was written way before the game/season started - and if it is soooo obvious then why the fck hasn't Rafa done anything??

Johnson which we all agreed is a great RB ,had a great game -Lucas and Babel which have no room in Liverpool had a stinker game again and Benayoun which is our only creative player immediatley made his presence shown so why start on the bench? Rafa sees football as rocket science it is pretty simple game for god sake.

The fact aquillany is injured and can't play for a month at least, is too big of a risk Rafa took and i'm afraid we start paying right away - i don't know what can we do at this stage maybe take SG back instead of Lucas and play Riera and Yossi behind Torres.

Depressing how predictable it was.
