Stu are you saying we don't need 2 strikers.
Do you really believe that playing only 1 up-front is the way to go.
If you watched the game today then Garcia was pretty much up-front.He certainly wasn't sitting in midfield.
I would say we had 2 forwards playing;one a little deeper than the other.

Garcia pretty much played as a deep lying forward as I saw it.

Valencia played 4-5-1 all the time with a lot of forward runs from Vicente and Aimar, if Rafa believes that this is the best formation for us as well, and we get success from it then I say keep it. :)

If Rafa is keen on 4-5-1 or 4-4-1-1 it would explain why the midfield was boosted and a extra striker was less of a priority

Rafa also likes midfielders who are versatile and can score goals. I think this gives him the flexibility to play with one out and out striker with an attacking midfielder who plays as a withdrawn striker and links up with the strikew and the other midfielders.

It doesn not really matter to me if we play with one or two strikers as long as we play good passing and movement which creates and makes goals and not defensively with the midfielders hoofing the ball for the lone striker to chase and hopefully score.
