personally i think sanli tuncay would be a good signing if we got him for about 7 mill, he can play on both right and left wings and as a striker so even if he isn't good enough for the first team, he will add cover for torres and the wingers.

I think we should stay away from Newcastle. The only player I thought that might be worthwile signing from them would have been Martins for our backup striker.

I think somebody like Silva is out of the question now because we dont have the funds.

We should sell off Dossena and get a very cheap CB that would be fine sitting on the bench. Or we could take a risk and play Kelly/San Jose in CB untill Agger gets back.

Priority should be a backup striker that we could buy for around £10 Million. Apart from Nemeth we dont really have a Striker that is good at finishing and I think he is still too young to cut the premiership.

Im sure Rafa will have it all sorted anyways  :grinning:

I'm surprised we haven't bought another established striker yet. What happens if Torres gets injured again? (which he will at some point) or worse Stevie too. It will be just like last season all over again.

seriously speaking, is there a need for any new additions? we have a number of prospects such as Nemeth, Pacheco, Darby, Kelly, etc and buying more players simply push them down the pecking order. im totally against any signing UNLESS its a proven world class player who can be mentioned in the same breath as Nistelrooy, Iniesta, or Henry. im not saying i dont want a new player. im just saying, i dont see the....point of buying..for example, a player like Ngog when we already had someone like Nemeth in there.

Can you really see Rafa using the likes of Nemeth or Pacheco in the league/Europe when he has people like Voronin or NGog, Degen still on the books? I'm all for blooding in the youth but there are a few useless players in the way.

thats my point. if we have to buy, buy quality. otherwise a future starlet may leave us in search of more opportunities.

I think we should take a risk and just shove Voronin/NGog to one side and bring in Nemeth/Pacheco and as 2nd/3rd choice to Torres. Or at least loan some of them out to other Premiership teams.

I cannot understand your logic in that post

???

You are saying that we should be completely reliant on our reserves becoming first team players and we should only buy world class players... first thing that comes to mind, how would we be able to afford only buying world class players???

Its about buying players that have the potential to be world class. For example, Kuyt was not world class when we bought him, neither was Alonso, Agger, Skrtel etc and they did not come through reserves.

Football just doesnt work like that..

did i say we should be completely reliant on the reserves or did i say we shouldnt buy players who are no better then what we have in the reserves? maybe the "world class" bit is exaggerated but you catch my drift here?
