Xabi's replacement - Name names and why

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Postby Effes » Tue Aug 04, 2009 9:51 pm

OK, a slightly different thread to the £30M one which asks for a mini list of players.

Basically, who do you want us to sign to take Xabi's place?

For me, it's Wesley Sneijder.

He is one of the key players for the Dutch national team; I think he's comparable to Ray Houghton.
He's someone who is dangerous in the final third. May prove vital in those home games when certain
teams park the bus.

The thing is, Im struggling to think of anyone else ???

I have no idea what Poulsen is like, and Im certainly not keen on Aquilaini after what Ive read about him.

Got any ideas??

For me its also Wesley Sneijder. I think he's a fantastic player, who can create things in the final third and score a few too.

other than that I'd rank them:

1. Wesley Sneijder

2. Steven Defour

3. Poulsen / Aquilani

Do you know anything about Defour or Poulsen?

I don't.

Forgot to mention him.

BadBob came up with it first and it's a very good shout.

Were you just kidding Baz? I think it'd be a great signing.

Overrated and is not exaclty a replacement for xabi . His strengths lie in his set peices in which we already have the best gerrard . Honestly i'd rather we go for totally different option and spend the whole 30 million + dossena + installements equating to 45 million for david villa and throw stevie back to midfield.

Everton look like they are interested in Senderos; so maybe Lescott is on the way?

Heard on the radio (talksport) that "Esteban Granero" may be a suitable replacement.

Ok, who the heck is he, and is he a suitable replacement?
