PS If anyone is interested in this. I would reccomend people maybe pick up 'With The Old Breed - At Peleliu and Okinawa' - by E.B Sledge and give it a read in advance of watching this. The Pacific is based on that book as well as another which I can't remember of the top of my head. I read Band of Brothers before actually seeing the show on BBC and it really helped to get sunk into the show once it started as you are obviously familiar with many of the characters.
BTW If anyone was wondering what channel it will be on, Sky have the rights for it however it will be airing on one of the Sky Movies channels.
This is going to be the dogs.

Also couldnt agree more on the books are better than tv/film. I am always reading my WW2 books over and over again. Right now I am back on D-Day (Steven Ambrose). Although I tend to buy more books on the European offensive. With the Old Breed is the only 1 I have on the Pacific side so i need to read up more or that once I finish it.
woof woof ! wrote:Although the authors credibility has been questioned (he claims to have been a member of the Gross Deutschland Division) either way, Guy Sajers "The Forgotten Soldier" is possibly the most detailed and moving story of war on the eastern front I've ever read , I urge anyone interested in the "Eastern Front" to get their mitts on it.
