Just watched this programme on BBC1 about a rape on an elderly woman, then locked her in a cupboard. Sick crime.

The BBC want justice so done a documentary on it. They found evidence against the guy who was acquitted of the rape after standing trial. The police took DNA from him when he stood trial for a robbery. Which he was cleared of. And rule states DNA taken from a suspect can only be kept if the are found guilty, otherwise it must be destroyed. The cops didn't destroy it and tried to use it in court. When the Judge learnt of this, he chucked the case out there and then.

However, since 2005, a suspect can stand trial twice for the same crime, and the BBC have found new DNA evidence against the suspect (Mr Baker) and are hoping to take it too court again.

It will be interesting to see what happens. This guy has since clocked up criminal records so should be interesting. They found him walking his dog and he attacked the camera man

I remember reading a book by "hardman" Dave Courtney when he confessed to killing a man that he had been found not guilty of killing.

I bet he regrets that now.
