Whilst not wanting to become embroiled in heated debate ,I must raise the issue of the pros and anti's it seems this particular quarrel will never go away ,and shows no signs of quelling ,particularly on this forum .

If I may make a suggestion without stating the obvious or sounding condescending ,if a poster is commenting on an issue raised by the thread starter would it be possible ,if the basis of your reply was in keeping with the subject matter without degenerating into a personal attack on Rafa or Kuyt  .

I simply find it hard to grasp how an enthusiastic thread about the prospective new season should morph into a ritual and sometimes malevolent aside against Kuyt or Rafa ..

Its precisely why some posters prefer to have a stay of absence  away from the forum ,besides being tedious, it is inviting the wrong type of poster and gives the impression to guests or new posters that it is as a whole devoid of any new ideas or concepts ...

In short I used to date a girl who was stunning ,but her favourite phrase was "NOW LISTEN TO ME "needless to say the relationship was fleeting ..

I agree with everything you said and think that we should concentrate on general debate and not get bogged down in nitpicking and insults

Briefly returning to the topic starter, I don't believe no that you should try and put barriers in the way of discussions developing their own path. I do share the topic starters frustration that you can't have a sensible discussion without some numpty trying to derail it, but I don't think there's an awful lot you can do about it.

You start a thread for instance asking whether or not we've missed a trick by not re-signing Owen, and all of a sudden you "hate Rafa with a passion" and people are called all manner of c...s for venturing an opinion that yes we might have. Quite why people don't just offer an opinion and then just wait and see is a mystery to me, but if I've learnt one thing in life it's that silly people do silly things. We will all know of course soon enough whether we've made a ricket or not, if Owen lives on the treatment table and is a disaster, then obviously Rafa was bang on the money by fecking him off on a free. If on the other hand he scores for fun and we look a bit light in the cover department, then it will look like a bad move letting him go to the Mancs.

So we'll have to wait about 9 months for the nah nah nah nah nah period of the debate. If you wouldn't touch Owen with a bargepole, it doesn't mean you're a c...  By the same token, if you'd have had him back in a flash ditto. Pretty soon we'll know whether the manager was right or wrong, so why all the nonsense?

As i say though, some people have their own agenda. Any discussion on any footballing matter regarding the club gets distilled into this "so you obviously hate Rafa then" "you c...". I try not to get too bogged down with it to be honest, but I'm fairly sure you can't actually legislate rules against it. I suppose the good thing about people like me having little digs at Kuyt as a wee wind up is that it gives those that get off on such things an excuse for their "but your a c..." rants. "I was just defending Rafa and Dirk"   :D .

Change the card system mate, it's long overdue.

Topic starter has a name ,be it a non de plume a name all the same ,I dont recollect refering to you at any time  as the topic starter ,if the threads got under your skin Mick then I apologize it wasnt aimed  at any individual ,nor was there any inference towards the current forum policy implied .

I just thought it needed saying ,surely there are enough threads on Kuyt and Rafa either pro or anti that posters could post in ,so I guess "the thread starter " is referring to the posters that continually become obssessed with a certain player to the point of not being able to string two sentences together without introducing their names .

Its late and I am becoming increasingly irritable, so I will will leave on this note ,its the stupid things that wind some people up

Sorry, definately no offence meant by my saying "the topic starter" rather than RBG, the Gogglemeister, or Red or whatever. No slight intended in any way shape or form, sorry if it was taken that way. I mean that as well, my apologies if it p!ssed you off fella, didn't give it a second though as I was typing it to be honest.
