Another idea that should be looked into is an additional mod on matchdays.. Alot of Wums register and talk shyte post match.. You could call the individual "matchday mod"

I thought you were giving the same penalty for the two cards.

Even so, I think the "danger" of being banned forever from newkit (assuming the person gives a damn), will make a lot of people think again before going to town on somebody. Without the threat of being kicked off the boards (in an easilly understood system), I doubt anyone will be truely bothered.

Maybe a yellow (banned for a week), two yellows (banned for two weeks) and a red (don't come back)?

Or, is that too harsh?

The main problem with the "don't come back" rule is it will tend to make the Mod's hesitant about giving out cards to people who deserve them, just because they are seen as "valued posters". I am not sure what the best solution is, but I think we need hard and fast rules if for no better reason than to take away the perception of favouritism.

One thing I think would cut down the abuse or at least make it a little more subtle is to prohibit people getting round the automatic censor by cunning use of fullstops and misspelled words. e.g. Kunt/c.nt/c*nt etc etc. Admittedly this would cut Barry's post count down by about 90%

I think we should have seperate threads purely for homophobia and racism. That way we keep the nazis happy as well, as we seem overzealous in trying to please absolutely every fecker in the room.

It should be this simple. feck up, verbal warnig, then written warning, then suspension, then expulsion.

Also, can people just chill. We will have differing opinion, keep the wars out of the threads and lets just hug it out

Abuse of other members with the use of words such as c... and w@nker should not be tolerated. "Funny" abuse though should be OK (I'm talking SOME of Lando and Barry's here), but if it is sustained it should result in a card.

P!ss taking of people's "illnesses" or family members, be they their kids or mothers or whatever should not be tolerated. Out of order and a straight card.

Racism, overt anti OOTerness, homophobia and the like should be stamped out instantly. Any comments which allude to fans not having a clue because they are a girl/American/young etc shouldn't be allowed.

Comments such as some of Aces recent ones where he has appeared to wish that Owen prospers in a Man Utd shirt shouldn't be allowed either. They are inflammatory IMHO and invite spats.

All in all though it should be simple. Get on someones case with a bit of abuse and there should be a warning on the open forum (none of this PM nonsense) if it's not too bad. If it is, there should be a card. Once someone is banned for a couple of weeks or whatever the mandatory period is, if they come back under a pseudonym, they should be banned for life. Whether or not they agree with the penalty, if the system is fair and transparent they should respect the decision and the process.

I think it would make the forum better, and some of the better posters who are currently banned could come back and make the forum better than it currently is.

Why can't we go back to the good old days when the only people banned were WUMS from other teams and people who SERIOUSLY overstepped the mark by posting real racism or kiddie porn?

For God's sake - does it REALLY hurt anyone to be called a total w*nker on the internet?

I kind of agree although not totally. In the main, I think if someone is a genuine fan we should be coming at it from the angle that we don't really want to ban people. I disagree with you usually Lando on the odd occasion you talk about football, but that doesn't mean I don't want to read your input.

In the main, my point is exactly that we shouldn't be banning people forever, people should be able to carry on on their merry way by and large, provided they aren't totally out of order.

So we agree on much, even though it doesn't seem so. Where we differ, is that I do think that if there is a set of rules, then by and large they should be stuck to. If you want to go down the route of having a no rule forum, then fair enough although I suspect there wouldn't be that many members. As it is though I think most people have better things to do with their time than come onto the internet to be called a c... by some c... who they've never met before and aren't going to meet, if you get my drift. I personally come on the forum to talk football mostly, have a wind up a bit, have a laugh etc etc but not to come in for shedloads of abuse that I can do little about*

Well I think there were quite a few more active members before the posting oppression started.

It appears that the mods and I have found a somewhat happy medium. I call people c*nts, but stop after 2 or 3 posts and it's all good.

I have to admit, though, that it is very annoying when the 4th gets deleted because some ponce who spends all their time berating the mods squeals like a pig.

What I would like to see is the "Report to Mods" button removed. That in itself would solve 3 parts of this forum's problems.

And before anyone jumps up and down, yes - I do mean that I want to be allowed to call people what I want, when I want and how I want.

That's how it always was. It's funny to think I didn't have a single card for the first 2 or 3 years I was on here, despite my "abuse" being far worse than it is now.

Still - at least Ace and TheRock don't have to hold their teddies QUITE so tight, now...

On a serious note, I think that some people need to stop reporting me. It's quite sad, really. Sadder than my wanting to insult, I'd say... :;):

You had Bam, who, with all the will in the World, would still lose a battle of wits with a jam sandwich. A horrible little squirt who hates Rafa for hundreds of reasons he would struggle to explain, and who wasted no time in attacking anyone who praised the boss. Bam was basically peewee's right-arm man, until they both went the way of Old Yellow.

Then there's you, Mick. Eloquent at times, but incessantly boring, you wear people down with your enormous appetite for drivel. You obviously spend the vast majority of your time all alone at work and wile away the hours by dreaming up more and more incredulous and outlandish ways to hate Rafa. I've no doubt you would deny it, but I bet you've thought about the size of Rafa's wedding tackle and, following the mental image that burdened you with, you hated him a little bit more.
For a long time you covered your own back with the pretense that you would "give him a fair crack", but this was blown out of the water recently with your resounding and somewhat overplayed revelation that you had firmly set up your 2-man in Camp Anti.

For longer than is humanly bearable the forum worked in the following way; you would thump out posts which dwarfed the entire unabridged large-print works of Shakespeare, closely followed by Saint saying something like "Oh yes, old bean - absolutely spiffing post". Then peewee would strike up with something resembling "yes mate and that is why rafa is a buffoon and kuyt sucks his c*ck".

Ren and Stimpy, AKA The Rock and Ace would then beat their literary meat over the anti's achievements in ridiculing the boss, and then sink back into obscurity.

One of the pro-Rafa posters would refute your claims with facts and mention in passing that peewee, TheRock and Acehole are a set of c*nts.
Cue the entrance, stage right, or Bam. Peewee's knight in stinking armour. He would wade in like the knuckle-headed oaf he truly is and start shooting his ill-educated mouth off in a desperate attempt to hang onto peewee's coattails.

Saint would post some spurious set of figures he had gone to extraordinary lengths to find in an attempt to belittle the pro-Rafa men, (well - Rafa - we all know that...).

Someone would post up the accurate figures, and Saint would withdraw.

TheRock would present to the watching World a masterclass in the art of the put down by quoting his favourite w*nking idol and saying "Know your role."

Ace would join the fray with a stunning rendition of startling similarity to TheRock, but add something like "you apple-swallower" or "your mum is a whore."

Both would hit the "Report to Moderator" button several times over.

At this stage, Heimdall would post something completely ludicrous, and then congratulate whichever poster he agreed with.

GBYS would pipe up with something that upsets the forum's self-appointed oracle, prompting the release of the 70 volume Encyclopedia BigMickittica, and the whole cycle would begin again.

I'm not suggesting that the pro's are innocent, of course. But I honestly feel that it is a very sorry state of affairs indeed when it is frowned upon to support the gaffer.

I do agree that Lando's post is witty and a good read though, like I say I enjoyed it myself.

Anyway without wanting to get sidetracked into a bout of silliness, I do think the forum would be improved both by a modification of the card system, and if some of the old faces were back.

The whole point of discussion forums is surely that people with sometimes contrasting views can discuss a given subject. If we were all died in the wool pro-Rafa Benitez devotees, then the place would become pretty boring pretty quickly. Similarly, if everyone hated the manager with a passion (I'm not sure anybody actually does but that seems to be the buzz phrase these days) it would be equally tedious.

As it is, if you start a thread asking the question "Have we missed a trick not signing Owen on a free" you get accused of all sorts. Not sure why really, as the sensible answer if you don't think we have is simply to say "No, and the reason we haven't is this". Unfortunately however, any football discussion on the forum has to meander through a minefield of people desperately trying to derail the conversation onto their favoured agenda, i.e. "you just hate the manager and this is an excuse to get at him".

It makes the World go round. It doesn't annoy me particularly, it makes me laugh sometimes more than anything.

As for "old faces" I've gone through that earlier.

I merely posted a comment in referrence to a post by Lando so how did any moderating come into it...?

sadly it's the continued berating of the mods that has stained this forum of late...

As for the members who are banned; they will not be returning.
