He's cut his ties with Liverpool. FACT
Let United fans concentrate on him, we have our pre-season starting in less than two weeks. Our attention should be elsewhere other than somebody who left us five years ago.
I agree

Why didnt he give Rafa a season ?
Why did he sign for newcastle if he wanted to sign for us ?
Do you think he has ever truely had liverpool in his heart saint ?
He didn't give Rafa a season, because he didn't believe in Rafa's ideas (same as Carra and Gerrard didn't!)
He signed for Newcastle because we couldn't afford the transfer fee.
I think more to the point is did Liverpool fans ever have Owen in their hearts.
Do you think half the players that play for us are playing because they love Liverpool? Try offering them £20k a week less and see how much they love Liverpool!
But what about those players that came up through the ranks saint - those players that were coached and honed by liverpool and turned into world class players - Carra and Gerrard both stayed because they believed in the club - owen didnt - while he was at liverpool owen was idolised . i still liked him when he went to madrid cause i did understand why - Owen could of turned down newcastle and then he could of come to us but he didnt .
Another question - do you want him to do well ?
ffs even if he had rejected Newcastle... whos to say we would have agreed terms with Madrid ?! we werent willing to match their asking price... you think theyd sell him for cheap just because we were he preferred destination.... fcking get real here for a minute...
we didnt want him enough to get him... more than once... its not like he rejected a contract from us to joice newcastle or manutd ?!
When he joined Madrid, he was seen by many as one of the worlds best players, playing for an underachieving side who werent able to match his ambitions in terms of silverware... Real Madrid were the best side in world football and they offered him the chance to play for what could possibly be considered the best club side in football history.. alongside players of similar calibre to his... quite hard to turn them down .. even harder when you consider Rafa was the guy taking over at Liverpool.. ca see him coming in first day... "well, none of you are gonna play 2 games in a row... dont care if you score 4 goals in a game Owen, you are not going to be starting week in week out"....
As i said.. turned out to be a wrong decision from his part but it was understandable.... same with the Newcastle move.... same with the ManUtd move....
umm Ace you need to read my post and you will see where i have said i understand why he went to madridand im glad we didnt get him in the end when you consider he only played 60 odd games in 4 seasons - and put his country before his club .
Now he is at the mancs i hope his career goes even more downhill and he flops massively there for them and achieves feck all with them just like he has since he left us - we have improved massively since he left and will improve even more without him .
Owens career as a top striker is over IMO and we will never see the Owen we did at Liverpool or Madrid .
I want players at the club who are there for the club and not for themselves - players who heart are at the club and who looks for the gains of the team not himself .

I bet everyone steps onto the pitch with the sole aim of doing well for the club as opposed to wanting to do well for himself ? clubs gains over personal gains ? maybe its a romantic old fashioned way of thinking but its what i believe the majority of our team do .

Ah right, I get it now. If they come to us, it's because of the manager (particularly if they are considered a "success", if not it's down to Fecking Parry).
If on the other hand they don't decide to sign for us, like GazBaz for instance, it's nothing to do with the manager or the methodology. It's because they're a money grabbing c...
Now I see it.

You are living in the 60's mate, this is 2009 players go where the money is. Why do you think we offered Torres a new contract ? Because we love him so much or because we were worried that someone might come in for him?
GYBS wrote:I said because of the manager or the club mick as opposed to coming for money reasons only - many players we have signed have stated they signed because of the club and because of the manager as opposed to only for money - Barry stated last summer he wanted to leave because he wanted CL footy - but he went to City on massive wages - who knows his real reasons for going there but many can take a guess but i still dont remember him deciding not to sign for us ?!

Or maybe as a reward for doing so well for us - surely that can be a reason . He was given a pay rise because his performances for his club were outstanding - just like normal people in normal jobs get pay rises for doing a great job .
