Ace the main problem people have with what your saying is your wishing him well and hope he does well - That means doing well at man utd and scoring goals for them and then doing better than us ?! surely you cant wish that and would rather he failed horribly and never scored a goal for them and flopped ?! which one would you prefer ?
yea i think he would have come to us if we had offered him a deal... Torres is our only forward and i could have see him getting used a whole lot either alongside Torres when needed or as a replacement when Torres isnt playing... Same as the deal Manutd are offering him.. dont think he'd be starting the season as their main striker ahead of Rooney and Berbatov or whoever they sign.. he'll come on for some games and if he impresses he keeps his spot.. simple really
as for wanting him to do well... dont think it has anything to do with Liverpool... i said i hope he does well because i think hes a good player and was a waste of talent when he was at Newcastle (despite scoring 30 goals in 65 starts) and at Madrid's bench (where he scored 16 goals mostly as sub)....
Hope he scores goals.. not enough for them to win the league but enough for him to get atleast some of his lost reputation back... hes done well when he was at liverpool and for that he'll be remembered...
good little player and one we idiotically imo missed out on...
We missed out on nothing ...
Rafa is NOT an idiot. There are better strikers out there worth the wages that he is getting paid for us. We cannot afford every tom, dick and owen under the sun who remains injured for more than half the frickin season.
No one doubts that he will score a few goals. But he will get injured. I am NOT wishing that he does - his body cannot take the pace of this game anymore.
Owen is on "a pay as you go" type contract. He is a backup and his only intention is to get into the England squad. Somehow, he thinks that playing a bit part role for Man U will secure that spot with Capello. What he doesn't realise is that Capello just does not rate him anymore and he will not be playing regularly - unless Mancs sell Berba.
Yes mate, we would rather get free transfers like Degan who is never injured or Voronin a top class striker, why would we want someone who is injured for half a season when we can have one who is injured ALL SEASON
Degen is a flop, Rafa admits it and all of us know it. Rafa is learning from his mistakes.
Voronin was quickly dispatched with, back on loan to Germany.
And more importantly, atleast we tend to have a laugh at these guys (although in true LFC fan spirit this is not appropriate).
Do you really want Owen's anfield legacy turned into a laughing stock by the same fans that worshipped him - because our worst founded fears come true in that he joins the permanently injured (resting on the beach) lot?
I think he was less of a gamble than signing Voronin, Degan or N'gog.
Fergie has not got a reputation for signing has beens, and I am pretty sure that Owen will score more goals next season than Voronin and N'gog combined.
Infact if our club had any business sense, they could probably have made Owen's wages back in image rights and shirt sales in Asia.
I don't deny that he will score more goals than N'Gog and Voronin combined, especially since Voronin won't be around !
N'Gog still is a gamble for the future (I'm not convinced).
But, explain to me how exactly will Owen play as a lone striker upfront in Rafa's tactics? Kuyt can be the backup when required.
Where exactly would he play, even if we had him on the bench?
